How would you suggest capturing fiends alive.

Find a way to damage their mental ability. A spell or a power like ego whip can reduce a creature to 0 Cha (or Int, or Wis), making it unable to act until it can rest.

Use sovereign glue to make sure the fiend isn't going anywhere without the very heavy manacles. :)

Edit: Also, I believe there's no upper limit on the amount of nonlethal damage a creature can have. Even with fast healing 15, thousands of hps take time to regen.

Yeah, I was thinking that last point, and the same gimmick works for lethal damage and fiends with regeneration. It's a little silly having the conquering heroes arrive while dragging and occasionally beating on a bag full of frapped, assorted fiend bits, though.

You know, that would be really awkward. Take two fiends with regeneration, hack them into the negative hundreds, pour the remains into a bucket, and hope the bits figure themselves out again when they regenerate. Those poor monsters will need therapy afterwards.

Place "magic circle versus evil" on the bed of a wagon, and haul them back into town. Alternately, use the "magic circle versus evil" trick to provide time to negotiate, and then make a simple pact with them as suggested above.

I don't think the magic circle is a good idea at all...has anyone read the spell?

[sblock]A magic circle leaves much to be desired as a trap. If the circle of powdered silver laid down in the process of spellcasting is broken, the effect immediately ends. The trapped creature can do nothing that disturbs the circle, directly or indirectly, but other creatures can. [/sblock]

Makes it sound like a bad idea...

Or a good adventure... ;)
