How would you use a Spiked Helm?

Anyone remember how religious figures were treated in Blackadder I?

A spiked helmet featured prominantly.

No wonder the Germans lost the first world war... Trying to spike people with their helmets. I guess by the time they changed helms the damage to morale was irrepairable.

I'd use it the way the Germans did in WWII.

I'd stick the spike in the ground to make a handy washing-bowl.
