I love Krull. I bought Horner's Krull double CD box set when it first went out of print and it set me back over $120. I still consider it among his best work (if not THE best work).

Ride of the Firemares is one of my faves.

You can't do much with a $45m budget. Probably an animation mix of "The D&D cartoon + The Hobbit" that would actually make money.

I love Icewind Dale but I feel like Dragonlance had that epic arc that would've fit well in a trilogy, especially after the end of the original Star Wars movies.

not sure they could have pulled it off technology / budget wise, but DL to me was always the D&D version of LotR

Last Crusade in 1989 had a budget of 48 million according to Wiki (about 125 mil now). Movies cost less back then even adjusting for inflation. Dial of Destiny had a budget north of $295 million according to Wiki.

Yeah, I think I'd go for Dragonlance as a set of movies. Effect aspects from Dragonslayer, Conan and Legend. Most of the effect budget would probably go into getting Ember & Onyx on the screen, animating Fewmaster Toade & Draconians as Henson muppets, Raist's spells and the matte paintings for the Floating Citadel, Huma's Tomb and the like.

D&D was able to do some Conan...

Conan the King.

Conan and Krull were half decent for the time.

First things first do coke. Then more coke.

Dragonlance woukd be expensive and probably be seen as a knock off LotR.

Oh and Queen music.
