How's this for a D&D villain?

Elven Necromancer. I know necromancy is against the whole elven "life is good" thing, so I would make him completely insane. Like Joker-level insane. So, how's it sound?

I like it.

You could have him paint up all his zombie compatriots to look like clowns, even garbing them in bright flashy circus clothes. Freaky. :)

I think pretty much every race believes "life is good."

I once had an evil elven druid who had a swarm of bees as animal companians. He was pretty crazy.

I kind of like this. How about this;

The extremely long life span of an elf and his insanity has twisted his thinking. He insists that Undeath is a viable means of prolonging life, it is "Life", and any attempts to tell him otherwise fall on deaf ears. He honestly doesn't understand why people won't listen to him. He is generally slow to violence and anger, still viewing himself as "good", but reacts with extreme viciousness and violence to people who won't leave him alone or insist on trying to stop him. The Fools deserved it.

"Right, Grandmother?"

(Cut to scene of Zombie Grandma sitting in a rocking chair mindlessly knitting something that might have been a shirt, if she had stopped a week or so ago...)

I could see this is perhaps the Elf having loved one too many human who died of old age. He wanted to origionally try and keep them alive, or atleast, Unalive... and it slowly warped him.

Perhaps he's a forsaken elf! ;) After all they don't have much to live for...and they DO have wizard as their favored class. My advice, definately go Pale Master and/or Crypt Lord.
