HTML assistance?

Hey, folks.

I'm trying to build a small website, and I'm running into some trouble. I'm using an older version of Dreamweaver, for what it's worth.

Edit: Changed questions on you.

Does anyone know how to create a background image for a website that is

A) Transparent, so the text is easily read over it, and

B) Centered, rather than tiled?

Thanks much for any help you can offer.

Your background image is a lot easier to make transparent if it's .gif format. Transparent .jpgs are possible, too, but more difficult.

To keep from tiling your background, I'd suggest you use a little .css (Cascading Style Sheets). There's a no-repeat parameter you can play with for your bg image, and it'll take care of centering, too.

Actually, Ari, the background doesn't have to be transparent for the text to be readable, it just has to contrast with whatever you color the text, in the right places.
