RPGBomb.com: New Web Site Helps RPG Community Connect
06 April 2008 – Nashua, NH – A group of experienced RPG [Role Playing Games] players and IT professionals announced an open BETA for a web site that enables persons that play a multitude of games to connect, plan, and share information in a community that is oriented around games. The site www.rpgbomb.com is designed for gamers to connect with other gamers, using well known social networking software.
Currently in “Open” Beta, RPGBOMB.COM allows gamers to create profiles, write blogs, comment on the latest (or even classic) games from table top RPGs to massive multiplayer online role playing games. Members can post pictures, videos and create a network of friends who all share their passion for gaming.
"Gamers need a place to go that’s their own," said Mark Urban, Content Director of Virtual Confederation. "Too many times when I go to conventions or talk online with RPGers that say ‘I only get to play at cons or I can’t even talk to most people about the game I love, because they don’t get it.’ RPGBomb.com is a way for people who love games – any games – to connect, share thoughts, opinions and ideas or even coordinate and run games and events in their area. It’s bringing the RPG community into the 21st century, without sacrificing the social aspect that most people love about gaming.”
"This innovative idea presented by John Sussenberger, Vice President and Co-founder, had been brewing for a year. We finally acted on it," added Doug Poirier, Chairman and CEO of Virtual Confederation. "The response from our beta testers is overwhelmingly positive. We though it was time to bring our idea to the masses. A totally free social site where users retain complete ownership and rites to everything they post".
The new site is more comprehensive than many existing sites as it includes mapping and subprofiles to facilitate setting up physical games or online activities in a particular area. It also features a focus on gaming social activities, such as conventions and local game days.
