Human Head is awesome

When I first heard about Human Head's project, some 3.5 spellcaster academy thing, I wasn't too impressed. We've got a ton of spellcasting books already and more in the pipeline. This however, is awesome:

"Official guidelines for using Redhurst in many existing fantasy settings:
Atlas Games' Nyambe and Seven Cities
Fast Forward's Dungeon World
Green Ronin's Freeport
Kenzer & Company's Kingdoms of Kalamar
Paradigm Concept's Codex Arcanis
Sword & Sorcery Studios' Scarred Lands
Sovereign Press's Sovereign Stone:

If this guidelines are more than a paragraph, I'll be one impressed pup.

The interesting thing is that it include an 'official' setting as well as many fan favorites.

I'm surprised that the're no Bluffside, Hunt or Everquest though. If they got the Scarred Lands, that should've been an easy one.

Maybe an online expansion?

That's a good idea, and certainly one I'd like to see implemented elsewhere.

At the same time, though, the balance of too little vs. too much info on integrating it into each setting might be hard to strike. Chance are, the average buyer will only play one of those settings -- if any -- and not really need the info for the others. On the other hand, restricting it to small/simple/obvious ideas to save space would make including it at all sort of pointless.

Off the top of my head, I'd say a paragraph or two -- three at the most -- seems about right.

Hello. I am part of the Living Arcanis staff for Paradigm Concept's Arcanis setting, one of the settings listed in the Redhurst book as providing info for setting integration.

You'll understand if I can't tell you much, but we were allowed to see the section on integrating Redhurst into Arcanis (just as a perk, Living Arcanis fans need wait longer to know if it will even make it to the campaign) and it is certainly more than one paragraph. It is more than three paragraphs (it's kinda hard to count paragraphs on a single-column text email, but if it were only one paragraph, that'd be one mighty long paragraph).

I was on the fence about the product, much like Joe above, but after seeing the level of detail for integration with Arcanis, let alone details for so many other worls, plus the tantalizing previews of the actual Redhurst material included in the info I read, I am firmly putting Redhurst in my to-buy list.

Hope this helps you to give the book a chance.

Sounding better all the time.

I wonder what type of changes are there for something like Nyambe though. It's a bit of a different setting. Wonder if it'll be run by the natives or an outsider local like some of the Near East places.
