Human PC's with elf heritage?

Hello all :)

I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is an official feat out there that would allow a human character to use his/her extra feat at 1st level to gain some elven ancestry?

A quick google hasn't really turned up much :(

Maybe something along the lines of +1 to listen, Spot & Search (plus maybe a +1 to saves against enchantment spells & effects?).

Thanks in advance :) (and my apologies if it's a dumb question :D )

Well, you could always take the Alertness feat and call it "Elf Heritage." +2 Spot and Listen

Or you could take the Iron Will feat and call it "Elf Heritage." +2 Will Saves.

How's that?

If there's little enough elvish ancestry that they're not a half-elf, then what elvish blood they have isn't going to predispose them much toward any one thing. I'd suggest taking either Alertness or Iron Will, if you want their elvish blood to show.

But if you want a custom feat:

ELVISH HERITAGE
Prerequisites: Human
Benefit: Gain a +1 racial bonus to Listen, Search, and Spot checks. In addition, the character gains a +2 bonus to emulate the race of elf when using Use Magic Device, and a +2 bonus to disguise himself as an elf.
Special: May only be taken at 1st level.

You mean like being a half-elf?
:) Yeah... somehow I knew that was coming :) (and I probably deserved it :p )

But seriously, I was thinking of something along the lines of what pawsplay posted. I know it's probably easiest to say that if a character has a one human parent and one half-elf parent, then he has a 50% chance of being either (or all humans with minimal elf lineage are simply humans). I was just wondering if there was a particular book that had mentioned it.

A custom feat seems easy enough to come up with... but if one already covers this kind of thing, I'd simply use that ruling instead (for example the PHB II has a few celestial heritage feats for sorcerers, and the WotC web-enhancement for Ghostwalk has a 'elfblood' feat for half-elves - so I thought maybe there was an elf heritage/bloodline feat out there somewhere for humans).

On the whole I'm kinda thinking of a human subrace (Kinda like the Dúnedain in middle earth I guess). I'm not actually trying to convert the Dúnedain to d20 or anything like that (as the elf blood in their veins is minimal at best (except perhaps for those of the line of Elros) ...and gifts such as their long life etc. are more due to the rewards gifted to their Númenórean ancestors - living close to Aman... etc.), I'm just toying with the idea of actually having a certain group of humans in my world being slightly different to regular humans - and actually having some game-mechanics to show it

So basically taking away the additional feat that humans get at 1st lvl and replacing them with some watered-down half-elf abilities seemed like the way to go (so in effect it works exactly like taking some kind of bloodline/heritage feat).

In all honesty I'll probably just go with regular humans (and just have the differences come though in their culture etc.)... but I thought I'd at least check things out (and see if anyone had any ideas on where I could look etc.) as it doesn't hurt to consider a few options.

Thanks for the input. It's appreciated :)
