Humanoid Dragon race!

What are the most common racial features/abilities would a humanoid dragon race have?

Darkvision, natural armor, bite/claws? Balancing ability scores would be tough though, as dragons tend to be good at everything except dexterity.

Im not worried about ability scores. This for a race I am creating that you get for being a direct descendant of dragons and needing the common features/abilities of a dragon.

Personally I'd go for Dracha. They also have the option of 6 levels in "Dracha" which gives them flight, breath weapons, very very cool race, with no LA, and the ability to go 20 levels as a regular class, or to go all native and Dragon it up.

Ahh, that is what I thought. This is still a racial class which I do not like. I would rather have a way to use them as race and still level in class at the same time, not choose either one.

Use the dragonborn. File off the serial numbers and "transformed by Bahamut" flavour and you've got a pretty good "humanoid dragon" race with three different options depending on the type of draconic feel you're going for (dark vision that improves as they gain HD; breath weapon that improves as they gain HD; or wings that let them glide and, eventually, fly as they gain HD.) All for LA +0.

I may have to do that but I want to allow the players to choose a more than one "dragon trait" at a time.

Going by what you've said, it doesn't sound like you can get what you're looking for without at least some level adjustment...

the idea I am having is certain traits will be gain by rituals to gain the traits permanently and each trait will be accessible at a certain HD and I want some of traits to be automatically at 1HD.

IE, feats.

A Dragonborn that doesn't choose the Wings trait can pick up Dragon Wings as its 1st-level feat, and pick up feats that improve the wings to actual flight later on. Further feats eventually allow the character to fly in full plate armor.
