. . .and he still won't be a Rogue or Ranger. Both of those striker classes have mobility and power options that allow them to attack in different ways than the Fighter. In addition to class features that make it easier to do damage so they can focus their feats and Paragon Paths on other aspects of their character.

In either case, they're focusing their feats and paragon paths on attempting to fill the role of the other.

In one case, the role is effectively filled: The fighter behaves as a striker, dealing high damage and maneuvering effectively (fighters get plenty of pushing and shifting powers, and it's easy enough to take one more as a utility swap, not to mention the feats given out to them in martial power). He also still performs as a defender with the option to be sticky and, most importantly, more surges and hitpoints than the ranger or rogue can achieve by a significant margin.

Actually a two-blade Ranger (Cleric) -> Warpriest is quite sticky at level 16. It's a long road to get there, but he's a perfectly playable Ranger the whole time.

And then what happens? His lower surges and hitpoints mean that he's behind in hitpoints per day by roughly 30%. Not to mention the fact that he's limited to a single marked target per round.

Whatchoo talkin' bout, Willis?
That Mark lasts until the end of the encounter (unless superseded, or unless he marks someone else).
It's absolutely brutal in the hands of a Fighter (Cleric) -> Warpriest.

Anyway. What happens then is that the target dies.
