Hybrids

1) How about if the lifespan formula is altered to make low level casters create creatures that last only a couple days, or even hours?

Example:

(level + INT mod)^5 /5 - 3600 = hrs. lifespan

level + INT mod = 7 => 1.4 hours Tiny beast

level + INT mod = 17 => 32 years Huge beast

2) And up the component or focus cost?

3) Limit the enchantment part to 1/10 the beast's lifespan?

That's the problem. As is, all one suffers for going from Huge to Gargantuan with this spell is -1 on CON.

Maybe the CON penalties should ncrease suddenly past Huge.

Geocorona: Why bother? Just make a more powerfull version of the spell.

The problem isn't that this spell doesn't work at high levels, but that there's no cap on the spell. Gargantuan doesn't come at enough penalty, so I'm taking out the last CON penalty. I just realized the duration of control is too long, also, such that a 14-th level wizard could create and control so many huge hybrid beasts he'd have an army of over a hundred within a month.

EDIT:
There, I fixed it so a 14th level wizard can only control his beasts for 7 days. This will keep the spell from being overused, and help explain why there are so many hybrid beasts created and then set free in the worlds of D&D.
