I know, I know, 20/20 hindsight and all that. But I DID get to use it against you last night too :)

Improvised Sap? Would the Hyena take damage for beiung used/abused in such a fashion?

I do not see why it wouldn't. If you grabbed my by my feet and beat the OP with my I am pretty sure that I would not be feeling so well. Perhaps equal damage for both?

You may have to also win a grapple check to do as such as you are grappling the Hyena, albeit with a significant advantage?

We are definitely treading into house rule territory with this, as afar as I can remember, this is definitely not specifically covered by the rules.

That my friend is a fair bit of understatement :)

Perhaps grapple check, which you will most likely win, to allow you to control the squirming and not-quite-so-laughing hyena enough to attack at -4 with damage to both?

Maybe Plainsailing, Hypersmurf, or I2K might wander around with an opinion.

Sadly, after the -20 on the check (netting me a +1 total modifier) I still rolled a 17. See, when you have 32 strength, it really doesn't matter WHAT you hit the other guy with. I really would want to see one of their opinions on the matter. This group I'm in seems to have a thing for creating situations not found in the rules. We try for at least 3 DM eyerolls a night.

I gave this matter some thought a few years ago when I was thinking about running a Midnight campaign and wanted to have some of the bad guys use halflings as weapons.

I would run it as follows:

- full-round action
- grapple check with -20 penalty to pin/control the hyena
- attack opponent with -4 penalty for improvised weapon
- non-lethal damage to opponent as a large or even huge sap (I would tend toward large)
- hyena takes lethal damage equal to that inflicted on the opponent (but without the benefit of any damage reduction the opponent might have)
- if the attack roll misses but was high enough for a successful touch attack then the hyena still takes damage

Once the hyena is dead then the wielder can gain iterative attacks as normal for an improvised weapon.
