Hyena-Chucks

Heh, i did something similar. My group was in a crypt filled with ghast and ghoulies, so i altered self into an ogre. Needless to say that my grapple was sufficient to grab and throw a baddie quite a distance. My DM ruled depending on the attack roll ... d6 for every 5-10 ft thrown. And since it was a low ceiling ... that added another d6 for hitting that first befre hitting the mob. Mob took half dmg.

After this we called it OGRE POWER oh oh huh (Tim Allen impersonation)

Am I the only one to think flailing hyenas connected by a chain being hurled about when I first saw the title?

I was actually thinking of gopher-chucks (as from Kung-Pow). Why would the damage be non-lethal?

I too would like to see what u guys come up with on this subject ! ..

In a previous life I was a Dwarf Cleric who managed to Disarm a Stone Giant I think it was, he decided to to smite my comrades with a Dwarven Flail !! ( I was actually flailing quite a lot when being swung by my ankles!)

I got pretty smashed up especially when he Critted on a swipe at teh Pally,, I fortunately had Fortified armour and lived :D

was kinda funny ... long ..long after !

I can kinda see it being non-lethal damage if both of the targets are soft...but living creatures simply are not soft. They, for the most part (if you are using chaos beast-chucks, there is a whole 'nother set of problems here), are bony. As such, being hit by one would be no better for you than being hit by a monk, really.

On the subject of the hyena taking damage: I know "equal and opposite reaction" and all that, but by that token, wouldn't a club be taking damage enough to break it when using it to beat people? The answer here, is HARDNESS. I couldn't give the Hyena more than 1d4 to 1d6 damage per strike, just on the assumption that the reactive force damage wouldn't be more than a weapon's usual hardness. Using 1d8 + The user's strength would add up to a LOT more than that, so I'd just say he takes the 1d4 or 1d6 damage and be done with it - after all, he's not the one on the end of the lever-action, he IS the lever.

Ok, so here's the situation. I'm playing an Orcish Dragon Disciple. As you might imagine, I have an incredibly high strength, and a decent BaB. I also enjoy the occasional use of Enlarge Person. Since it's only a -20 to grapple things with only one hand, I found myself with a total +1 modifier to such a check. I decided to test it out against a hyena, and successfully plucked it from the ground.

So, in such a situation, how much damage does a hyena do, when weilded as a melee weapon against, say, an Ogre? Does the Ogre take all the damage, the hyena, or is it split? Is there a precident in RAW that I'm missing (other than that when one creature falls into another creature, the split the damage)? I understand that I'll be taking a -4 to hit for being non proficient. That does not concern me overmuch.

This has nothing to do with your question, but remember that this tactic only works until you hit lvl10 as a Dragon disciple. Then you are a dragon, and not a legal target for an Enlarge Person spell. However, you get so many other goodies at that level that it hardly matters.

yeah, I fully intend to finish off the wand of Enlarge Person well before then (assuming I even survive the next two-three sessions, where we are coming up on the end of the first major story arc). But of course, as you said, I anticipate enough other buffs to my grappling prowess that I should still be able to pull this off as that point. I might even go back into Battle Sorcerer so I can switch out True Strike or Ghoul's Touch for some sort of specialized Enlarge Dragon spell.
