I heard on the news today (wiki) that the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota had collapsed. I'm just posting this to check up on any of our Minnesotan ENworlders and make sure they and their family are ok, and unhurt.
First, the bridge was in Minnesota. Second, I'm fine and I'm sure most of the other MN ENworlders are fine too. From what I've gathered only 7 b\people died. But hundreds were injured. So here's hoping all the other MN ENworlders are fine too.
I'm fine, but apparently a woman and her baby is missing and my coworker is friends with someone who knows the missing woman. Although I'm not sure what proof they have that it's because of this bridge, everyone else seems to be positive of it.
Just glad I don't live north and work south or vice versa. Haven't paid much attention to the news recently, but I'm sure attempting to bypass that bridge must be annoying during rush hour.
(Minnesotan) Twelve bodies have been recovered, and there is one person missing (a construction worker, so not in a car to be found). I am impressed that the information that came out within hours of the event seems to have turned out to be accurate.
My wife and I haven't crossed that bridge, but we have gone to a Twins game and Tannahill Weavers ( http://www.tannahillweavers.com/ ) concerts aout three blocks away.
We are in SE MN, so while we did not have our lives and home endangered by the flooding, the floodwaters got several inches above the car seat cushions in our car. I haven't had the nerve to try and start it.
About 20 hours of continuous rain. This was not part of Hurricane Erin, I was taken by surprise in that it just seemed like another rainstorm coming. Sometimes everybody all rolls a "1" at the same time.
