They did. It was called Red Steel and it stunk.

So far, sword controls on the Wii has been pretty much a failure. I don't expect this to change during the Wii's life.

Oh, I'll bet they were planning it for a while; everyone's been speculating on the existance of a game like this ever since the Wii was announced. Let's hope this means Lucasarts took their time on the project to make sure it wouldn't suck.

I sure hope so. If it gets good reviews I might actually end up getting the console. One thing that would be cool would be if they made Wii remotes that look like lightsaber hilts. I'd so pay extra for one that looked like Count Dooku's. That is, if it was good game in the first place...

True dat. If it does get rave reviews, I'll be dropping the money for the system and the game as well.

Agreed. It was a good try and it is fun for a little while. But ultimately, the Wii can't really make a good dueling game with the Wiimote as the sword.

The accuracy just isn't there and you can cheat by just moving it around a little bit.

It doesn't force you to make the full motion. You can do similar things with the sports games too. That's a slight downfall of the technology, but it's workable.

The best motion control games either have used simple motions for the game (Wario Ware did a fairly good job with that, as did Zelda), use it as a pointer (Metroid Prime 3), or rarely require lots of rapid movements (Mario Kart Wii).

Still, It will be fun to try, and chances are they will develop an alternate controler scheme as well (The Wii is very good for that as well)
