I did something last game session that I feel guilty about it is something I have never done before. I cheated I lied about my HP my character was killed taken to -11 and I said it was -9 and used an action point to stablize.
I was angry with the DM I felt he had really stacked the odds against us and that he had bent the rules for the bad guys.
We were on a mission to rescue two party members from the city jail because we learned that their lives were in danger.
We had three NPCs with us and myself and two other PCs we are all either second or third level.
We were in the sewers under the jail and were attacked my two monsters I don't know what they were they were rats with fins who lived in the water as well as dire rats.
The sharkrats as we nicknamed them killed one NPC out right. During the course of the battle everyone but myself and one NPC were knocked below 0 and were dying.
I got knocked to 2 hit points and was 30 feet away from the last monster I disengaged and moved back 60 feet the creature followed me 90 feet and got a full attack on me and took me down to -6 the dM rolled low. The NPC then killed the last creature and had a wand of healing and healed us enough to get us going again.
When we got to the jail we ended up fighting five soldiers and some kind of uber mage. This guy cast fire balls and had five missles in magic missle attack which made him at least ninth level he also was an assissian because he was able to use poison darts stored in his mouth plus we found out he had 12 ranks in escape artist. I figure with all that he was at least 14th level.
We captured him and killed the soldiers and rescued our party members. We had master work manaclues and a gag and hood tied on this mage. As were going back to the sewers with our prisoner he managed to using escape artist get out of everyhing and throw 5 magic missles at me and teleport away. I was the one leading him through the sewer. The magic missles killed me and that was when I cheated.
I was really angry not that the guy got away I really don't have a problem with the DM bending the rules to let the bad guy escape but I had a big problem with him bending the rules and letting the guy attack us.
Now I don't know what to do part of me wants to confess and tell the DM I cheated because I don't think it was right for me to do so. Part of me just wants to let it go and move on and vow to myself not to do it again.
