I converted 141 monsters.

Nah go on do it! Afterall Pikachu and the others are no weirder than a Shocker Lizard or the Rust Monster right. The water Pokemon in particular fit in seamlessly and if you use some of the more obscure pokemon then the only people who recognise them will be the fans...

One criticism: Why in the world are Squirtle and it's ilk Neutral Evil? I think "Usually Neutral" applies to most of them.

Is it because only psychopaths and social outcasts chose Squirtle in the beginning of that game?

...I always chose Squirtle.

It's a reference to the show. In the show, there are roving packs of squirtles who have been abandoned by their owners. Seemingly, if you leave squirtles on their own they naturally put on dark sunglasses and become bandits. Hence, I put them as usually neutral evil and gave them some Rogueish skils to start out with.

I'm severely tempted to put these in my campaign, but the players would ****ing kill me.

Remember that many Pokemon are, in fact, based on actual legendary monsters. If you saw the Sinbad Animated Movie with Brad Pitt in it and said "Hey! He's fighting Articuno!" - you were right. Articuno is the legendary Arabian ice bird "Anka". Which means that since Anka shows up in Sinbad's adventures, that he was in fact fighting Articuno.

And so on. If you want to use an Ivysaur - just use one. It's no stranger than a Shambling Mound. And if you have it say "Rowwwr!" instead of "Ivy saur!" noone will even become suspicious.

Well, the Pokemaster class has the ability to convert his own Pokemon to his own alignment. So if Ash is Chaotic Good, all of his Pokemon gradually become Chaotic Good as well. So after a while, Squirtle would become a happy fun-loving Chaotic Good Squirtle and play nice with Charizard and Pikachu.

The "wild" Squirtles are still all "bad eggs" and are usually Neutral Evil...

From the title, I was going to say "you're mad! 141 monsters is huge, you freak!"

Having seen what monsters you have been converting, I have to correct that:

"You're totally insane! Pokemons!"

Come on he's 10 yrs old and is allowed to hike around the countryside with a couple of other Juves who's only contact with their parent figures is via a video cellphone

- can you really blame Ash for being just a little delinquent?

Well, I could argue that the roguish sunglass-wearing turtles would probably fall under "Chaotic Neutral", because they're not particularly malicious, just a bunch of aquatic derelicts, but I play with subjective alignment anyway.

And Ash is totally corrupt. He ditches his friends at the slightest whim, and has a concubinary pact with some twelve-year-old over a bicycle, and he’s completely megalomaniacal and power-hungry.

I have another suggestion; perhaps there should be a Pokemon subtype, which would include the magical evolution, susceptibility to pokeballs, and the other unusual traits they all share.

I have to say this is the most I’ve ever talked about Pokemon in the last three years.

Well, the idea is that a Pokemaster can be placed into a normal D&D game and still work. Further, you can put Pokemon into a normal D&D game and have them function normally.

In order to work both ways, the Pokemaster has to be able to function when he never encounters a "Bulbasaur" and instead faces a "Shambling Mound". Further, the regular Pokemon have to function under normal rules when the party is simply a Fighter, Rogue, Cleric and Wizard.

The whole Pokemaster rules and justification are here:

http://www.scshop.com/~ritaxis/

Creatures are or are not "Pokemon" by virtue of their type and advancement schema. So a Beholder is a Pokemon, a Shambling Mound is a Pokemon, and a Mind Flayer is not a Pokemon.
