I DM Standing up

I do battles standing up. Whether I'm the DM or a player, I generally stand whenever we get into a fight. It's partially because I need to see the board, but I also feel it keeps me awake and going.

After a while of roleplaying, i'll stand, even if it continues. I have a tendancy to talk with my arms, anyway.

I stand occasionally. Usually I sit on the greatest DM chair ever, a college desk from the thrift store. It's a hard wooden chair with one armrest on the right side, but the armrest is extended into a small table. It rocks.

I like to DM alot of horror or suspense, so DMing standing up helps the mood.

We don't play at a table we tend to spread out all over a big room, and I like to move between the players. I make alot up as I go and don't generally have notes so nothing to really tie me down, if I need to make rolls I'll borrow a players dice.

Gives me more of a position of control over the players essential in horror gaming.

Speaking of good DM posisitions I used to sit right in front of the god lamb 10 years ago. The god lamp was a lamp so bright you could not look at it for long, and since it was directly behind me, the players couldn't look at me. It was sort of cool. :D

I DMed Amber standing up.

I DM one of my D&D campaigns on the floor.

Sometimes I sit on a couch,
sometimes I sit on a chair and actually have a table!

Cheers!

Yep, I'm standing most of the time. I have a chair by my DM table with my notes, and another one near the battle table but I'm standing and moving around almost the whole time anyway.

I tend to do both, though the larger the group, the more I tend to remain sitting.

(Personal Theory: If I can't see your face, the group is too big, and standing reveals more faces.)

P-kitty D.Med a group i ws in last GenCon and he was up and down and up and moving back and forth...and it worked. Well.

Since then I am much more likely to leave my seat.
