I found a site with more biast opinions about how DnD is Satanic

I am SHOCKED! SHOCKED and OFFENDED at some of the attitudes expressed in this thread!

I LIKE country music! ;)

Now hie yourselves off to listen to some George Strait by way of tolerance training!

It's a step in the right direction, where people think for themselves and accept the differences in others.

You do realize, of course, that if we truly allow people to think for themselves, they may very well end up *not* accepting the differences in others. Which I think is a shame. But bear in mind that your "step in the right direction" contains two different aims, which are often in contradiction to each other.

BTW, you criticized me for doing the very thing you supposedly appreciate--thinking for oneself.

Not to be devil's advocate or anything, but how on earth can you call someone "mentally ill" just because they have different beliefs than you do?
Well, it depends on what those beliefs are. If I met someone who didn't believe in, say, gravity, I'd call him insane. Believing that demons routinely pop up during roleplaying sessions isn't much different.

Hmmmm...

Buddhists believe in reincarnation. Are they mentally ill?

The only thing I'd suggest is to be tolerate of other people's intolerence.

The last thing we need is more intolerence (especially for intolerence) :p

I'm suprised to find anyone who's comfortable claiming that someone who's been ostracized hasn't been harmed. It's a terrible thing to do to somebody, and, having been in similar situations, I can say that, generally, doing something that hurts someone else's feelings, intentionally, is doing harm.

I'm glad to see so many free thinking people on these boards.

Well, folks who take their religious beliefs seriously are frequently ostracized by gamers. Many locked threads right here on EN World over the years have illustrated this very fact.

Many people have said the following, and in my case as well, it's 100% true:

"I've known many more gamers who are close-minded about Christianty (and religion in general) than I've met Christians who are close-minded about gamers."

Doing this type of "harm" works both ways, y'know.

I'm with you. Except when it comes to spelling. It's "intolerance", dammit :D

LOL
That's a habit of the intelligent/gamers: they tend to be poor spellers, as a group. Most of my gaming friends can't spell their way past a third grade test, but throw a quadratic equation (sp?) at them, and they are golden.

BTW,
I am from a small town in the Bible Belt, and I have heard about the religious persecution of gamers. We never had that "ostracized" problem, though. We just switched to a different church! :p

Man, I loved those hellfire and brimstone speeches at the Baptist churches (east side and west side!) :] Great visualization for sunday night's game!

Please tell me that you didn't just say that intelligent people tend to be poor spellers. Please tell me I misunderstood. Please tell me that, if you did in fact mean that, you were joking. Please.

not this again

1st of all did anyone else notice that there was not a more current "example" than 1988?
2nd I doubt this guys claim to teaching TSR employees spell rituals because I have never seen a ritual in any of the 3 editions I own.

Inconclusion I plan to contact a former owner of an "occult" book store that was located here in Milwaukee and see if he ever heard of this guy because if this dude was as "prominent" as he asserts my source will know him.

Just another misguided attempt to defame that which they can not control
