I got to play d20 "A Game of Thrones" this weekend.

Almost sounds like they're doing some things in that game, Wil, that you guys could be integrating into Midnight....if the rules adaptations are open sourced at all..:)

Not that Midnight is lacking....it's just that some of these changes sound cool and very gritty.

There are a multitude of ways to grit up Midnight, this might be one. :)

Seeing as how I'm an author on the project and I live in Austin, I"m bummed I wasn't invited.:(

:p

Sorry, Wil. Had no idea you an Austinite. The get together was organized via RPGnet, but I'm planning on publicizing the next one (tentatively in early November) to more gamer forae.

(Incidentally, I think you know an acquaintance of mine - Rod Anderson).

The game is going to rock. I can't wait until it hits the shelves.

Do you have any idea on the projected release date of this book?

The $99 deluxe book, which will have both d20 and Tri-Stat info is slated for September (with some copies available at GenCon, maybe). The d20-only version (which S&S is printing and distributing) is due out in October, I think, and the Tri-Stat only version for the end of the year.

I'm really torn between trying to get the deluxe edition and waiting on the d20. Really torn. I want it badly but I keep balking at the cost when I go to pre-order it.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is Tri-Stat? And what makes it worth all the extra money?

If it wasn't for the cost I'd be all over the delux edition like a cheap suit. Unfortunately it looks like I am going to be hoarding my pennies for the D20 edition. :\

*sigh* stupid poverty...

Tri-Stat is Guardians of Order's (the publisher) house system. It originated with the Big Eyes Small Mouth anime RPG, but has been used in a number of other applications (Silver Age Sentinels, The Authority RPG, Tekumel, Ex Machina, and an urban fantasy sourcebook, the name of which completely escapes me). It's a solid scaleable generic system. There's a free version (Tri-Stat DX) available on RPGnow, I think.
