I had an idea, tell me if this will work

We're fighting an army of undead, and we are in an Elven city. There is at least 1 druid, and there are probably numerous clerics. Can they combine their skills to create a holy blizzard or holy hurricane?

RAW? No, but your DM might allow some sort of ritual. There is a spell that summons a blizzard (in Frostburn, I think) but it's high level.

May I suggest you obtain flight, shrink boulders, and drop them on the enemy?

May I suggest you build an Orbital Laser, and burn the entire city to nothingness in an event that would carve your name into history in blood and fire to be remembered for eternity.

Roll up an Arcane Trickster - they're broken!

Seriously though, ignore all these "inside" joke posts (they're not really inside - you just have to read the recent posts) and go with Dandu's first paragraph.

If you combine multiple casters and sacrifice spell slots with total spell levels of like 3X, I would probably let you cast an X level equivalent ritual spell if it fit from a flavor perspective.

What would that do?
The boulders? Hurt people.

If you're dealing with an army sized enemy, though, your best bet would be some huge area of effect spell. Spells like Control Weather would get you your tornado or blizzard, but I'm not sure how to make it deal Holy damage. There is a metamagic feat that does something like that, but it only works on spells that directly deal damage, and summoning a tornado to hurt people for you probably doesn't count.

Okay, use Storm of Vengeance, with Widen or Sudden Widen, and the aforementioned Metamagic feat to make the damage Holy.

Another option would be to Fly up over the army (you want really high altitude here) and open a Gate to Celestia. By the rules, that Gate can only open a bit off shore, as this is a realm with many levels or layers. You can only access at a particular point.

Now comes the fun part. The oceans of Celestia are made of holy water.

So holy water comes pouring back through your gate at high altitude. Now you need some spell like Control Winds to take this cascade of holy water and scatter it around like rain over the undead army.

Will that do what you want? :)

Okay, so that puts Storm of Vengeance into the Epic range. Not what you were looking for...

Okay, next...

Ice Storm, Sudden Widen, Sacred Spell, and Energy Substitution to Acid or Lightning, so it manifests as something that Undead don't laugh it. (Most are immune to Cold damage.) That makes it manifest as a 6th level spell.

The down side is that you can only use the Sudden effect once per day, and an 80 foot cylinder may seem pretty big on the battlemat, against a besieging army it's a pinprick, size wise. You'd need to do it more than once a day to get the epic scale you're looking for.

You could simply Widen the Ice Storm normally, which makes it take a 7th level slot, but making it Sacred would bump it to 9th. If you have multiple 9th level spells per day at your disposal, then this is a different scale of battle, and realistically the town is lost. The PCs may prevail, but anything that can challenge the party at that level will simply slaughter the rest of the population.

But let's be honest, any DM that lets you one-punch an entire army of undead isn't doing their job. :)

Try this, used it to great effect in ohter games... although not sure if you have a wizard high enough. Use a cone of cold with energry substitution fire and enlarge. this will allow you to change it to a fire spell (or acid or whatever you need) and the enlarge spell takes it to a range of 50'+5'/lvl. then fly up above the crowd of undead and fire straight down. As you will need a mage of at least 11th level to pull this off, this will give you a cirular area of effect of 105' across doing 11D6 damage.

Remember that a cones area of effect is the end of the is as wide as it is long. so fly at your max range and fire straight down for maximum area!
