I hate AIM, but I'm stuck using it...

I recently had to re-install XP on my PC and I'm dreading putting AIM on it. My wife uses AIM, so I have to install it at some point (or something that allows us to use it). I know there are some other programs out there that let you use AIM. Any one have any recommendations on what program to use instead? Thanks guys!

Trillian is good, as is Miranda (which I'm using right now). I use miranda because it's multi-client, very few bells and whistles, and it's FAST and very small in code. Trillian to me is the best AIM "equivalent" in terms of bells/whistles.

hey there - trillian is an excellent program.

But you also might try going to http://www.meebo.com

Essentially meebo is a browser based web chatting interface that works with a number of popular browsers. I have used it with yahoo and it works fine.

No "footprint" there in a browser, at least in theory, eh? ;)

Last time I tried Trillian, it wouldn't show dice rolls, does it now? How about Miranda?
Trillian still doesn't use dice rolls.

I use other things for dice rolls, though. ;)
