If a player ever actually blew up at me and threatened me with not coming back, I'd kick him the hell out of my house.
If you were actually hurt by his threats or what he said, there is no excuse for his disgusting behavior and he SHOULD be removed from the group.
If he also has a history of such behavior (as has been indicated) then he should be kicked out of the group and told he has a lot of maturing to do before you will play with him again.
I don't want to sound harsh, but I would NEVER put up with someone actually threatening me over a D&D game. Especially if I was the DM.
