Every character should have an evil twin. They need someone to blame for their deeds.

Seriously. I'm not familiar with the half-illithid. I couldn't give advice on it. I do like Half-dragons. What is the rest of the group made of? What setting is the DM using?

Half Illithid? how the heck would that happen? I mean... wouldn't the squiddy eat yer brain first? or would it be like a Black widow.... mate then grab a snack....

What would the offspring look like? That would depend on the other half I suppose...

Dwarf - short, hairy tentacles
Elf - tasteful mauve skin... eats brains with a knife and fork.
Halfling - tends to trip over own tentacles.
Orc - Really ugly. Eats own brain. Dies.

What kind of adventures does your DM use? Having tentacles may cause alarm within many communities... as would scales and sharp teeth.

1/2 Dragons seem over used. 1/2 Illiad.

Course there are other options. Savage Species has so many fun templates to consider assuming your world is tolerate to claws, jaws and looks that awe.
