I have not purchased a gaming book of any kind in over a year

I'm pretty picky on what I buy. Most of that has to do with the fact that I've been a player for the most part. So, I've not had the need to acquire lots of sourcebooks. I can definitely see how being a player versus being a DM would affect one's purchasing habits.

But, I'm currently working on a campaign with the intent that I run it someday. So, I've got my eye on more things now than I ever did.

Aside from the core books, the FRCS, and the MotP, I probably only have about 6-7 d20 books, and some of those were given to me since I write for TG/MEG. Philip J. Reed's Book of unusual treasures just arrived in the mail today, and that's one of the first things I've bought in a long time. Last one I picked up was the Tome of Horrors, which is just awesome.

I'm looking at getting a module (can't think of the name) by Monkeygod that I believe will fit nicely into my campaign plans, the MM II, and a few other sundry things that I think might augment my game.

But, my purchases usually only consist of D&D-related things. I'm just not a big fan of modern, or sci-fi, or any of that other stuff.

I think I am at the saturation point. I have all the books released for 3e officially from WotC except the stronghold Builders Guidebook and the original DM screen (cause I sold it)

I have CoC.
I have All the Freeport Stuff, Armies of the Abyss, Legions of Hell, Arcana Societies of Magic.
Traps and Tretchery I and 2
Tome of Horrors, Rappan Athuk, Abysthor, and Demons and Devils, Crucible of Freya.
Assorted early Atlas Games Mods, A few Firey Dragon Adventures
2 Books of eldrich might, If thoughts could kill, Skevyrins Register, Demon God's Fane
---------------------------------------
So what am I going to buy in the coming months?

WotC: Revised core.
Fiend folio
Savage Species
Unapproachable East
Races of Faerun
Arms and Equipment Guide

Depending on what is in the revised and the arms and equipment, I may sell some (or all) of the builder books.

FFG: Nothing of Note.

FD: Dragon Counters

Malhavoc: BoEM3, BoHM

Necromancer: (when they get them out)
The Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps
Vampires and Liches
Raise the Dead

Atlas: Nothing of Note.

MEG: Nothing of note.

AEG: Nothing of note.

Privateer Press: Nothing of note.
----------------------------------------------------
Stuff that makes my ears perk up (i.e. if I have the money to blow or it turns out to be really useful):

Atlas Games: En Route, Seven strongholds, Backdrops, Seven Cities, Penumbra Bestiary

AEG: Mercenaries and Toolbox

MEG: Still Nothing.

Necromancer:
Bards Gate
City of Brass
Necropolis

FFG: Dungeoncraft, Mythic Races

Malhavoc: Mindscapes, Cry Havoc, Arcana Unearthed, The Banewarrens

Privateer Press: Monsternomicon

After this summer (June) it looks like there will be very little I will be buying on a knee jerk reaction. Except Maybe realms products form WotC. I think my major suppliers will be Wizards, Malhavoc and Necromancer. But who can tell.

Aaron.

DnD is huge in the armed forces. A whole bunch of agressive bored young men....

DnD or bar brawls.... You'll find plenty of players so don't chunk yer books.

Even for a jarhead grunt? :)

Anyone else like me just feel like "I don't ever have to buy any more D&D stuff ever again, and I don't feel like it either?"

Absolutely. D&D is a very complete game. As a ruleset, you don't need to go beyond the core books. For adventure material, most GMs make up their own stuff. Modules make the MM and DMG pretty superfluous.

If I had more time for gaming, I might think otherwise, but I haven't even played most of my AD&D modules yet.

Curious. I was talking to some Rangers a few years ago and D&D was not allowed since it used dice which can be used for gambling. Hear of such crap before?

I should show this list to my wife....then maybe she wouldn't complain when buy 2-3 books between now and July

Haven't bought anything beyond the core 3. It's not (just) because I'm poor, it's because I'm really not sure of the application of a lot of stuff out there... I'm not too keen on prestige classes, for some reason, and anyway I've got my own campaign setting that requires fairly unique rule solutions. Or generic ones. I'm fond of generic rule solutions.

This is why I'm writing a homebrew system with one rulebook to rule them all...

I've got a slowly growing list of d20 books I want to pick up, and I'd say I usually buy about one per month (or one per 2 weeks when I'm not broke).

I used to buy a lot of d20 stuff -- for the first year after the PHB came out, I bought everything that had rules material in it. After a year, I surveyed what I had and sold about a third of it back to my FLGS (as it wasn't all that good). Since then, I've been very picky about my d20 purchases, and I've enjoyed everything on my shelf.

For me it comes back to being a completist: if I find something I really like (like D&D/d20), I want to own as much of it as possible. I never know when I'll need something for my games, and I enjoy reading gaming books even if I don't plan on using them.
