I hope Eberron is a flop. Am I evil?

Sure, I can play my old settings with 3E (and, indeed, I do!) but what I'm hoping for is some measure of respect for old settings and for those settings to be shared indefinitely with the gaming community.
The settings were given respect. Whole R&D teams produced a bunch of product for them, and the marketing arm of TSR pimped them as best they knew. Now you can get all of them on eBay or, better yet, as PDFs from http://www.svgames.com for a few dollars apiece. You can then discuss them all you want in various Web fora.

But I'm not convinced all those old settings that TSR (not WotC) ditched were so unsuccessful.
That's just it. They were unsuccessful. Unsuccessful, of course, is not the same thing as "bad". And it's not just that they didn't make "megabucks." No RPG product really makes "megabucks". Products simply need to be *profitable* in some way.

(I wouldn't mind at all if you close the thread as I'm very contrite over my original post.) :(

I forgot to mention another way that a thread gets closed - if the original thread starter wishes it closed, then we'll close it.

Plus, I think the majority of what people are going to say has been said.

See you in other threads, all!
