I just ate the Red Violin of pizzas

Papa John's (not the franchise, but a "mom & pop" operation) in Owatonna, MN has the best pizza I've ever had.
Not discounting that better pizza may exist out there - just that their is the best I've ever had.
Plus they turned me on to Saurkraut pizza. Which is MUCH better than it sounds.

John's Pizza on Bleecker Street in NYC - best pizza in the entire world. But alas, they don't sell by the slice, so you have to make a group sit down meal of it.

Mmmm.....double vote on that. When I lived in NYC, I used to go to John's on 65th.

However, I moved to CT a few years ago and ....

I think the best pizza is at Frank Pepe's on Wooster St in New Haven, CT.

I keep hearing this from *everyone* - haven't been there yet. Everyone I talk to says
this is the best pizza! What's in it, heroin? :)

AMEN TO THAT!

The heck with a group, I've eaten a whole pie at John's by myself on many occasions. :o
It's my only "Must Go" destination whenever I'm in NYC, and have twice made detours to go there when I wasn't planning to be in the city at all.

Second best pizza is Prima Pizza in Cornwall, NY. And they will overnight a pizza to you anywhere in the US. My wife got me one for Christmas a few years ago when I was really homesick.

Probably something like that ;). I've only had it once but it was pretty memorable. My wife was in New Haven a few weeks ago (to get me a present at IKEA) and ate there and she said it lived up to her memory. I might have to make a road trip down there to get one soon.

Jaerdaph, Cthulhu's Librarian -> Is this John's Pizzeria, next to a theater? If so, I found it to be average at best (and quite oval :) ).

Seattle's best pizza joints are:

Piecora's New York Pizza
Belltown Pizza (A New York style joint)
Atlantic Street Pizza (New york style base, only b/c of 'the sourdough crust)
The Northlake Tavern ("Ohio" style pizza, halfway between Chicago and New York)
Wallingford Pizza House (Chicago Style, with the seeming unique idea of "the dome", they cook it in a bowl and turn it upside down when they give it to you)

The Whole Foods supermarket chain has interesting pizzas (almost traditional italian) also.

Aaron.

The one on 65th street is near the google-plex theater.

Vitos Pizza in Southern Pines, NC is some of the best pizza I've ever eaten, and it compares to anything I've had in NYC, Chicago, etc.
