I just ate the Red Violin of pizzas

Cthulu's Librarian and Klaus: And next time either of you come to New York, let me know and we'll head to John's - the REAL John's on Bleecker! :)

Sbarro's: GAG! I wouldn't feed that swill to a dog! We'll treat you better next time, Claudio, I promise!

John Q. Mayhem: Alright, I admit it. Yeah, I can eat the whole thing by myself! Thank God for the Lipitor - lowers your cholesterol AND sucks the fat right out of you!

And keeping with the theme of this thread, Sbarro's Pizza is like the Brown Noise played on a glockenspiel. :D

Edit: The pizza so bad, you can't even spell it right.

I'll be up in February, so let's make it a plan! I'll be hitting John's on Bleecker for sure, so we might as well have a full booth! Did you ever notice just how damn uncomfortable the booths are? They're too close to the table and the back is too straight. I guess that's why they don't mind people carving their names into them...

There's a pizza chain I used to go to up in the Chicago area called Rocky Ricoco's, and it was the stuff. Tomato quiche style, as I believe someone referred to it. ;) "Lotsa Piatza", as they did. They sold it by the whole pizza or by the slice, and usually two slices would have even my dad full. (We is hillbilly folk, so that's saying something. :D )

Stopped by one of their restaurants in Champaign, IL, towards the beginning of last year, though, and it was sad - the flavors were all out of kilter, and it seemed like they were only using about half the cheese they used to. :\

Anyone know the place I'm talking about? Know if the Champaign one is just sad, or are they all like that now? And does anyone have any recommendations where to get what I remember? (Preferably close to South Carolina - Illinois is quite a little drive, now.)

Yep, you're a native New Yorker - that was a very Seinfeldian observation!

Sounds great - Just PM'd you my email address and cell phone number.
