I also plan to have them encounter snow goblins on a large frozen underground lake. The goblins will of course be on ice skates and will be using some of the weapons from the equipment chapter that skim across frozen surfaces.

HOCKY GOBLINS!

This is one sourcebook I will not be purchasing. I have absolutely no use for it. The are no true polar ice caps in my homebrew.

Are there glaciers? High mountains? Its not about polar icecaps. Its about cold places. (defined as below 0 degrees F or -17C.) But if it does not get THAT cold in hyou Campaign you are right...

Aaron.

Sentient Polar Bears ...

Jya.

As far as polar bear people go, I seem to recal (and I may be way off-base on this one, it's been some time) that there were similar creatures in at least one of Michael Moorcock's books. The Dragon In The Sword, I think.

They may have been called the "Ursine Princes" ...?

*wanders off to look in the bookshelves for a bit*

Yeah. I'm starting to think the same thing. I wasn't planning on even browsing Frostburn or Races of Stone. But, Barnes and Noble is two blocks from where I work and I needed time out over lunch one day.

WotC are a bunch of bastards. Just when I've decided that I've got all the crunch I need, they come out with a completely different approach that is actually useful to me. Grrr... and I was looking forward to having an extra $40 disposable the next few months.

Riiiight. Like that'll ever happen. :D

Even if WotC stopped producing D&D books, I could still find RPGs to waste $40+ a month on. I'm such an addict. :D

I haven't had a chance to use anything from it yet (why isn't there a jungleburn? THAT's what I need right now)

It looks totally cool. Can't wait to have reason to use it.
Or a Forestburn, Mountainburn, Oceanburn. :)

I just got Frostburn friday and I am quite impressed. And although you say "Jungleburn" in jest, if they were smart they would be wise to build on the success of Frostburn. I can safely say other climes and environment books would make their way on to my gaming bookshelf as soon as they hit the stands.

I'd really like a Forestburn...Greenthumbburn....whatever you'd want to call it.

Yup. Forests and deserts are the two biggies I've got a need for more ideas on.

Sandstorm, IIRC, is the desert book, and I'll be picking it up if it's even close in quality to Frostburn. Ditto for whatever the forest book will be called (Leafland? :D).

Of course, I'm thinking now that their next adventure needs to take them to Frostfell just so I can throw in some of the Frostburn nastiness... :D

Just send them to the Lhazar Principalities. There seems to be a few islands in the northern section that are essentially Frostfell regions, and the islands themselves have a description that just feels like the Aleutians (Alaskan islands).
