I just heard this about the Transformers movie. (possible spoilers)

They're not selling a Camero while Ford is currently selling the latest Mustang model?!?!!!

What's the world coming to?

BTW, been meaning to ask... what other brands will they be using besides GM (Chevrolet, Hummer)?

Mustang has always far outsold Camaro....by like 3 to one. Whether GM ever produces a Camaro may depend on if they can avoid going bankrupt in the next few months anyways.

I'd love if they had Sideswipe in the movie....he was always one of my favourites....though the Countach is at this point an old car, they could make him a Murcielago for the movie..

I saw a picture on G4 showing a Ford mustang police cruiser. It was black and white, had a Decepticon symbol on the side, and the slogan was "To punish and enslave".

I thought the original police car was a Datsun/Nissan 280Z Autobot named Prowl. Were there any Decepticon police cars?

There was a group of 4 or 5 Decepticon cars that transformed into a bigger robot, I'm pretty sure...and one of them *may* have been a police car. They were *not* the same as the Constructicons. They were released at the same time that there was a group of Autobots who were various types of airplanes, and could also turn into a big robot. I don't remember the names though. I just remember that them as it was a little after they released the Predacons and the Insectacons, and that's when I stopped paying attention :)

I know. It just that when I think of one muscle car, I always think of the other, as if they're linked by rivalry.

Sighs. I used to keep an old issue of Road & Track magazine that had the Countach in it.

I think you mean the Stunticons, and I don't think one of them was a police car, but I could easily be wrong about that as I never owned the toys. One was a tractor-trailer, though... and the Aerialbots were the Autobot planes/gestalt.

And Transfans (of which I'm not really one, but I do remember certain things) call the size change thing "mass shifting" to my knowledge.

... and when Hot Rod regained it, he was transformed into Rodimus Prime.
Which was a huge joke.

We go from Optimus Prime -- an 18-wheeler big rig -- to Ultra Magnus, an 18-wheeler big rig transporter -- to Rodimus Prime... A souped up conversion van. :(

Nope! You're thinking the Constructicons who turned into Devastator. There were the Stunticons, who included at least one sports car (in addition to a big rig with a big mouth); when united they formed Menasor.

The Stunticon big rig was 'Motormaster'.

None of the Decepticons turned into a police car, but isnt to far out of the realm of possibility. (Plus "To Punish and Enslave" is to cool not to use) The fan rumors I've heard say this is going to be 'Brawn'...which as a G1 fan kinda makes me unhappy. (Brawn is supposed to be an Autobot).

Other 'realistic' cars for the Decepticons are the 'Battlechargers' Runamuck and Runabout who are currently having a lot of 'screentime' in the IDW comic. Besides the Stunticons, that's about it for Decepticon ground vehicles that look like real vehicles as opposed to more 'sci fi' vehicles.

I always thought that the entire point of the series after the movie was how bad a leader Rodimus was compared to Optimus. Five Faces of Darkness kind of spelled it out, and especially during the Return of Optimus Prime, when Rodimus was thrilled to give the Matrix back to Optimus.

Springer: "I was wrong, he is as dumb as he looks."

I could've sworn that police car was 'Brawl'.

Well, there was Jetfire/Skyfire, but he was an ex-Decepticon, IIRC. And there was a least a short run of airplane Autobots that combined into a giant robot.

Entertainingly, he was (VERY briefly) a Decepticon in both the comic and the TV series; in the comic, it was for a few issues and he wasn't even really self-aware, and in the TV series it was for, what, half an episode? He'd crashed on Earth before the war when he was out joyriding with Starscream, who remembered and dug him up and recruited him.

Pity that we won't see a reissue of the original Jetfire figure. I imagine copyright issues'll prevent that.
