Here in Iowa, it's perfectly legal. So long as the blade isn't concealed. Of course, the same is true of guns (unconcealed).
Strangely (or not) I've never seen anyone carrying either in public. About the closest is that my dad used to carry his .357 when we went to cut trees for firewood, just in case we found a possum or raccoon nest. I imagine most farm-types are about the same.

Hell, I'm not going for a SWORD just yet, since I don't have 3-8 grand to spare...I do however, make enough to buy myself a nice dagger, which is all I really need. Just a beautiful blade to carry around for general use.....which is capable of cutting steel. God bless the person who re-discovered Crystalline Damascus Steel!
Although there is one thing I cannot tell from viewing the site..which has more awesomeness..Avatar Damascus or the Angel Swords? By the look of things the Angel Swords are more beautiful, but can they stand up to the cutting power of the damascus?
