I need a ride to Gen Con

Well, it's that time of year again.

Gen Con is two weeks away, and I'm looking for a ride there and/or back.

I live in Lexington, KY, though which both I-64 and I-75 pass, meaning that if you're travelling on either of those interstates I'm on the way. I'm looking to arrive in Indy around late afternoon Wednesday (8/9), and leave Sunday (8/13) sometime in the late morning or early afternoon (this is flexible).

I'm quite willing to help pay for gas headed there and back, as it's still cheaper (and quicker) than taking a bus.

Any takers, please post here first, and then we can speak privately.

they have me going thru nashville and elizabethtown and ... well taking 65 instead of 75.

i could take knoxville to 75 and thru lexington if you can't find another ride.

but you know that means listening to OD&D tales there and back again... a hobbit's... um.. well you now have been forewarned.

I highly advise that you two work it out as I believe those stories not only need to be told but that Alzrius has just the appreciative ears to hear them. With some luck, I might be seeing you both there at some point. Still up in the air, unfortunately.

I am comming from Bowling Green KY which is an hour from you. If things dont work out with Diaglo. I could work something out (although it is out of my way). If you could find your way to Bowling Green I'd be happy to give you a lift
Cheers
Brett

I'll vouch for Alzrius being a good travelling companion, we picked him up last year, and he was a pleasure to ride with and share stories. I'd offer to do the same this year, but I'm flying.

Living in Knoxville, I come right up through Lexington every time I go to GenCon. So, if things don't work out, feel free to drop me a line and I can give you a ride. It's just me and my brother in the car, so not too crowded. Just let me know.

The only thing is that we'd probably be coming through Lexington around 11:00-11:30 Eastern on Wednesday, but wouldn't be coming back until Monday morning. Still, let me know.

(Feel free to tell me to bug off, Alzrius, if this crimps your thread.)

While the subject of rides have come up, is there anyone who can give me a ride from Baltimore to Gen Con? I'm going out to Balitmore to visit my folks and attend Otakon the weekend before, and I could do with a ride from there to Indianapolis. I don't need a ride back - I'm flying back to Denver from there - but a ride to would be great.

I am more than willing to chip in for gas, snacks, and promise not to tell you about my character unless you want me to. :)

Much thanks to Mark and Cthulhu's Librarian for the kind words; I hope I see you guys at the Con! :)

Diaglo, I wouldn't mind listening to tales of the good old days of D&D, if you wouldn't mind picking me up (I'm a heathen since I didn't start gaming until 2E). One thing I forgot to mention was that I will have a fairly large carrying bag that I'll be carrying with me (and likely a second, smaller bag also on the way back), so trunk space might be an issue. Please email me if you'd like to discuss it further.

Moridin, the ride up sounds great, but coming back might be a problem. In order to cut down on costs, I check out of the hotel Sunday. Since Gen Con turns into a pumpkin around 4 PM or so on Sunday, leaving Monday morning would be something of a problem for me then. :heh:

Jcfiala, I don't mind you bringing the subject up here, but you might be better served with your own thread - the topic of my getting a ride might overshadow yours. That's not me trying to shoo you away, just friendly advice.

trunk space isn't an issue.

i don't have a trunk. i drive a pickup truck with a workman's toolbox and camper top. you'll have 6 ft of space in the bed of the truck.

i plan on leaving hotlanta in the morning. so i'll be in lexington i guess around lunchtime. perfect time to get gas and something to eat.

edit: i sent you an email
