I need a starting wealth for a 27th level character!

I am creating a 27th level character for chuckles, though it could be used as a npc on down the line. I need a starting wealth for her. She's going to be a 9th level cleric, 9th level wizard, 9th level fighter.multi-class, using 3.5 ruleset.

Starting wealth for a 27th level PC is 2,900,000 gp, per the Epic Level HB.

As for your character, it would be much more effective to consider going something like Wizard 3/Cleric 3/Spellsword 9/Mystic Theurge 12. There's actually synergy between the classes that way, and the character won't pale in comparison to any single-classed character. Not that you asked for my advice, of course ...

At that level, just give the character as many items worth less than 100k as you want, and then give them 10 > 100k things, and a few artifacts.

Or something like that.

Really, wealth just gets silly at that level.

Well, a +6 sword (epic) is 720,000 gp IIRC, and a +10 sword (epic) is 2,000,000 gp. I could be off by a factor of 2, but even so the money can be spent surprisingly quickly.

I'm sure it can be. A silly amount of money can be spent quickly on things costing a silly amount of gold. Meh.

Maybe it's just my belief that at that power level it really doesn't matter what you have; you'll win if you get the drop on the opponent, and they'll win if they get the drop on you. The whole thing about being epic is that you want to put yourself beyond others' ability to get the drop on you; they will be doing the same thing. So you send your henchmen out to do what you want done, and they will do the same. You send your henchmen out to stop their henchmen from doing whatever, and they do the same. You win if you render their henchmen ineffective and keep yours effective. But in all of that, there's very little room for a 27th level fighter swinging around a +10 sword; it's the same reason generals don't fight on the front lines, they're better used elsewhere.

So if I were 27th level, I would not be spending my money on a single +10 sword for myself... I'd rather equip 400 of my henchmen with +1 Longswords, +1 Longbows, and +1 Armor for the same price. I think that's a much more effective way of spending your epic dollars.

Which is why I suggested he just have as many things costing less than 100k as he wants (within reason, of course) and have a bunch of things that cost more. But spread the wealth around your organization; at that level, even PCs should have their own organization.

I had a campaign approach these levels (over the course of 2-3 years). We had one PC start his own church*, converting another PC and many NPCs (including his cohort). Another ascended, going from a major servant of his deity to an ally (albiet a much weaker ally).

Their assets included a 20-ton construct guardian, a second-hand demiplane, and a potential favor from an archdevil.

* Not a church to himself, but to a giant snake he met in a mountain stronghold in a fallen empire. The snake was bemused by the idea, and ended up helping the character in significant ways.

Heh, by the raw, isn't such a multi-classed character both epic and normal? I'm sorta confused on the idea of epic and am just experimenting with characters really.

No, I believe those numbers are right.

And, I don't remember who ran the numbers, but wealth/items accounts for roughly 20% of your ECL.
