D&D 5E I need good ideas

So one of the other players offed my previous character for reasons. my new character is an assassin and the DM is allowing me to extract my revenge. The DM has charged me with the task off murdering his player.... but there is a catch. I have to do it in a manner and set it up so that The other Characters nor players in our campaign have any idea that it was me who murdered him, this job is between me and the DM, he is willing to help me out provided i come up with a plan of execution so that him and i dont need to pass notes in the middle of the session and let everyone know that i killed him so he does not try to hold a grudge. Please, if you have any ideas feel free to share them with me as this is quite difficult for me.

Heres my advice: Tell your DM you're not gonna take revenge, and tell the whole group you would prefer to play D&D as the cooperative game it is intended to be.

Just assume that you have done it, none of the other players suspects anything but the DM knows and can blackmail you forever. He can skew encounters so that your character gets a raw deal but you can't complain or he will expose you. When you try to sneak up on anything, your rolls will never be quite enough to avoid getting caught. When you roll enough damage to fell a tarrasque, it will never be quite enough and your opponent will mysteriously be immune to whatever you hit him with. Because he can. :]

Also assume that the DM has allowed the other player to make a new character who is the twin brother of the one you killed and exactly like him in every respect but twice as wealthy because he is now the sole inheritor of a rich uncle's estate instead of having to share it. Also assume that the new character is going to try very hard to find out the truth about his brother's death and he just might succeed.

Happy? Thought not.

Stop being so childish and get on with playing D&D.

To offset everyone else in this thread, I will assume you are rational human beings, and know the consequences of this style of play. If this is the normal play style for your group, more power to you, if not I recommend being careful. As others so "eloquently" pointed out, it may lead to issues if the party finds out.

Now on to tips. As an assassin, I recommend using your disguise abilities, and maybe adding in some threats towards noble persons. Get one of them to hire a band of mercenaries, and conveniently be out scouting at the time of their attack. Make sure the nobles pay good money, and get some heavy hitters. Practice your acting so you can look surprised and horrified when the party is attacked in your absence.

EDIT: Also, for bonus points, disguise yourself as the guy you are trying to kill. Do some bad stuff, and get a bounty on his head, making the mercenaries more believable, and their specific targeting of him logical. You might even get the rest of your party to willingly give him up to the mercenaries, in the interest of avoiding a fight.

just maneuver the party to a tavern or party, and poison his drink. Pawn it off as a plot hook for an adventure to find the killer. Make sure you framed someone else, first, though.

Am I the only one that is more curious about these "reasons" than the plan for retaliation? I know that in RP you may get intraparty squabbles, but any DM worth his/her salt is going to step in before it gets to actual PvP situations as it tends to derail the game and get a lot of people's frills ruffled.

So please give us the context of how your player got killed by the other one. It provides us a window into your group's play style and what your DM allows. Also, did your group agree before starting your game that PvP was acceptable?
