I need ideas for my character.

Lord Ben

First Post
Okay, he's currently a Dwarven bbn2/fgt3 and he level up to 6th and I'll probably take another fighter level.

I rolled almost max on hp, which is almost my only defense.

Feats: I have unerring strike, Sprint, extra rage, and improved initiative.

17 str
16 dex
18 con
10 int
8 wis
6 cha

I have Rhino Hide Armor (doubles damage on a charge), mw greataxe, hat of disguise, boots of levitation, and a +1 undead bane heavy mace.

Any ideas what feat's I should take? Power attack and cleave are out the window - too boring. We can pick from the main books, the class books, and the Kalamar book.

I was thinking of Greater Resiliancy to add 1/- DR, if my DM follows the thought of it's already a class ability. I can't decide what to pick for the fighter feat though, something offensive, my defense is really bad with an AC18 only (before charging and raging). I'm also the only fighter in the party and pretty much a damage spounge which is why greater resiliancy looked nice.

We've had a debate about this... It seems most people don't think it'll be available to a Barbarian till 11th level... I disagree though...

You'll be hitting 4th level fighter... the obvious one would be Specialzation. Or Dodge and then mobility thing...

Dwarf's toughness...

Well, I'm the only party member with martial weapon prof - so I plan on finding a decent weapon. I also don't want to specialize.

I read the arguement on that thread - I think it's available right away. 1pt per hit - whee!! Not any more overpowered then a rgr1/fgt5 using a wand of cure light wounds.

Dwarfs toughness is extra HP right? Sounds nice.

Feat: Iron Will

Good weapons:
Dwarfen Waraxe for damage output
Any weapon with Reach for... well, Reach. :)
Can be combined well with Quick Draw and Combat Reflexes.

You wear a Reach Weapon, are beeing charged and take an AOO with your Rech Wepaon. Than, at your turn, Quickdraw a "regular" weapon.

I have a dwarf barbarian 2 in a new campaign that is remarkably similar. I also planned on taking fighter levels after a couple in barbarian and maybe one or two of ranger, because it fits my character. We are playing in Greyhawk just after the wars, and my dwarf is from the Kindom of Fruzzti (frost barbarians). He fought against the the Tenhas for his homeland, but it was actually Iuz the Old who was behind the barbarian uprising. So my character, being a good guy, hates Iuz and wants to destroy all his plans and followers. So I will take some ranger levels just for the favored enemy. I was thinking either humans, for the upper echalon of followers, or demons.

At any rate, for feats you could try many things besides power attack and cleave. Combat reflexes and expert tactician is a good combination. Iron Will is never a bad choice for a fighter type, I have found. What is unerring strike?

oh my YES ... I'm playing a dwarven psychic-warrior and the last time I played I crit'd with my dwarven war axe ...

that x3 d10 is really really nice! (I did 34 pts of dmg)

I was going to suggest Dwarf's Toughness. Extra hit points can never hurt, and it is on the Fighter bonus feat. It compliments Greater Resilency very well, IMHO.

Also, you might be able to convince your DM to allow Dwarf's Toughness to "upgrade". It was a semi-popular house rule last I checked. Essentially, whenever you qualify for the next step in the Toughness chain, you gain it. I use it in my campaigns, and it works pretty well. YMMV.

You don't want to specialize? mind if I ask why?
You could go with Exotic Weapons master in a couple of levels if you get some Exotic weapon proficiency feats.... At Exo 5 you get Wep prof, Wep Foc, and Wep Spec with ALL exotic weapons + you can make your own weapons.

Pre-req (I think): +4 Att
Exot Wep Prof (3 different weapons)
Rage ability

If not you could go with Combat Reflexes. If you take all the damage then you are probably being attacked by multiple creatures so the extra AoO will help when they close in. If there is anyone else that is attacking Opportunist might be a good choice.

Dodge might be a good choice considering that you could get an extra +1 against an enemy. Its 5% vs. 1 guy but hey take what you can get.

I would say Expertise but you're lacking in the Int dept. Ohh well.

You might want to consider Power Attack.... so you can get Sunder. If you destroy someones weapon then you are definately going to take less damage. If you deal out some massive damage you might take out the weapon in just one or two rounds whereas NPCs Ect might take three or four rounds to get rid of.

What about knockdown, from S&F? Or Dodge, if you want to work on your AC.

Knockdown would be my main choice, though: since getting up is a MEA, it prevents opponents from moving around on the battlefield usefully (if they get up and then move toward the spellcasters, for example, they forfeit their attacks for the round). And if they don't get up, then at the very least they suffer big fat AC penalties. I forget whether they suffer penalties to hit -- it definitely seems like they should.

And I think it'd fit the character concept well.

Daniel
