I need some feat suggestions for a non wildshaping druid

Crothian

First Post
In the Eberron Campaign I'm playing a Shifter Druid. Using the Shifter Racial Substitution levels I traded away Wildshape for more shifting versatility. I also got rid of the animal companion using that. The character has all the Shifter feats at this time he want. We get a feat a level so I have plenty of them.

I've gone through many books and just can't seem to find feats that fit the character. The idea is that he is now moving from a savage shifter to one of great wisdom and understanding. So, I am looking at feats that can be used to enhance what he does as a Druid. He'll be summoning elementals more and there is a feat Augment Elemental in Magic of Eberron. I'm not thinking of craft item feats as the DM is really not ready to deal with them yet. And meta magic feats are an option but I'm looking for something more versatile.

I know that probably doesn't help much, but any suggestions? He's 8th level now.

Augment Summoning from the PHb is a great feat for a Druid. I'm not familiar with Eberron at all, you don't lose the ability to spontaneously cast SNA do you?

Greenbound Summoning is from LEoF and it turns all your animal summons into plants, by applying the Greenbound template to them. (Greenbound is elsewhere in LEoF.)

Quicken Spell is great for any mid-high level druid.

Finally, Rapid Spell from CD makes casting your summons much quicker.

Either way...just my 2 cp

Edit: as you can see, I like summoning druids :)

I'm getting that for a prestige class I'm taking next level. I still spontaniously cast SNA.

What is LEoF? :D

Quicken Spell I'll probably get but I wnat to wait till I can get more use out of it. I like feat I use right away. I don't see me wasting my highest level spells just to cast a much lower level spell faster at this time.

And at 12th level he'll get to cast SNA as a Standard action.

Thanks, I'm just trying to brainstorm some ideas.

Wise dude? There was a feat out there (prolly Kalamar) that gave a bonus on all knowledge skills you have...

Other: Improved Toughness.

What about Reserve feats? Summon Elemental comes to mind.

I've never played with Greenbound Summoning before, but I remember that at a quick glance it looked hideously broken. I'd run that one by your DM first.

Summoning is a great tool for Druids. To boost summoning, Augment Summoning is a must. Empower and Maximize are also good (to increase the number of beasties summoned).

Improved Initiative is also a great choice. It's good for just about everyone, but summoners need it even more, due to the long casting time.

Reserve Feats are good.

Quick Reconnoiter is nice for high spot/listen characters (as many druids are).

Zen Archery

Also consider the Wisdom-based combat feats in PHBII.

Can someone post that feat? I don't have a copy of Lost Empires of Faerun.

I'll have to look at PHB2 for those wisdom based combat feats, it's not a book I own.

Just having a look through Complete Mage for you, Summon Elemental looks to me to be a good choice. Also, I don't know if you're non-lawfully aligned, but, if you're not, maybe consider the Fey Heritage feats. I don't know how they work in play, but they could really add to the roleplaying/character apsect of being closer to nature. I don't play Eberron myself, I prefer Forgotten Realms, so I can't suggest any setting-specific feats.

Something like:
1. Combat focus: Will +2 if you're focused (hit enemy). more with more feats.
2. Combat stability: (BAB+3, focused) bonus vs bullrush, disarm, etc.
3. Combat defense: (BAB+6, focused, Dodge) Change dodge feat target
4. Combat vigor: (BAB+9, focused) Fast Healing
5. Combat awareness: (BAB+12, focused) Know hitpoints of enemies
6. Combat strike: (BAB+15, focused) Expend focus for bonus on attack and damage

Metamagic Feats to consider:

Extend Spell (+1) - This is a bump on the way to Persistant Spell, but it is useful in its own right, and not only for buff spells. (Does anyone know how it interacts with Heat/Chill Metal?) It is great for summoning spells that last for concentration +X rounds (like summon swarm) and swift spells that last 1 round. Stock up on extra long-lasting Goodberries before adventuring. Use it with Ice Storm for extra fun.

Empower Spell (+2) - in addition to the obvious (Call lightning, Flame Strike), this is also good with spells like Summon Nature's Ally II+ (get 150% of 1d3 creatures), Cure Spells, Animal Trance, Lesser Restoration (restore 2-6 points of ability damage instead of 1-4), etc.
