I think my players are cheating on me...

When I GM, my goal is to have everyone enjoy the time. So the question is, for WoW addict type personalities, what sort of Adventure or Campaign style would best re-invogorate their interest?
It's hard to generalize about what a WoW addict is, although from the outside, that may not be obvious.

Instead of trying to replicate the appeal of WoW -- and since you can't be sitting in the study 24/7, ready to play whenever they are, you lose that fight -- I'd concentrate on what they perceive WoW as missing.

The ability to achieve their goals without combat is something all MMORPGs are pretty weak on, as is the ability to make a permanent change in the world. Some MMORPGs let you stick houses everywhere, but unless you're playing Dungeons & Developers, you can probably let them do it in a more substantive way.

1. Wait for the revised edition of the Warcraft Game, World of Warcraft, coming soon as an OGL game with racial levels and other goods.

2. See about getting new people to join the group whose time limits are not quite so stingent.

3. Take a temporary break and read about some other gaming systems to see what other options you may take. For example, if their playing WoW, which is atypical fantasy, try out something like GURPS and pick up Traveller or Hero and pick up Terrain Empire and Star Hero to give them science fiction gaming.

Strange. When I'm getting ready for a RL game session, whether planning, chatting with the other players, or working on char ideas, I can't even be bothered with computer games. They cease to interest me in the least. It takes a few weeks without RL games for me to work up a fever for CRPGs. The experience simply doesn't compare to playing with friends around the kitchen table.
