Half-Ogres as the new burly race, anyone?

I dont think ogres have as much baggage as orc's, so I can imagine them being a brutish race, not necessarily evil and malicious just petty and selfish.

But the logistics of how they became Half ogres I prefer not to think about. Maybe rather than humans the other half is orc ...

As long as there are orc PC stats in the MM Glossary, I won't be too disappointed. I don't think it's Changeling, as in one of the playtests (Michele's), the *secret race* is clearly recognizable to others. That doesn't seem like a Changeling at all. Hopefully they'll be in the MM Glossary.

I do think a small Lizardfolk would fit wonderfully as the mystery race. Man, I loved the poison dusk lizardfolk...

This would be a good replacment of the half orc. If wotc redoes the concept of the ogre and comes up with reasons the new ogres are bred with humans (or the other phb races) (like the half giants in dark sun, maybe through magic long ago and now they breed true?)

Anyrate, half ogres would be good. Leave the orc as a really nasty bad guy then.

Mul. Half-dwarves, ala Dark Sun. That's my, straight outta left field, call. Whether that name stays the same or not, I think that the concept is perfect and would fit into an enormous number of campaigns without much tweaking.

+4 Con, -2 Cha, -2 Wis. +2 Fort save. Racial ability of "survival" (unaffected by extreme temps, can last for up to 3 times as long as a human without sustenance, etc...). Medium sized. Sapient, rather than bestial, appearance so they "fit" into more situations without feeling entirely alien.

Just a strange thought.

My gut is telling me it's going to be Orcs.

Well, new theroy I am working on is that the races will match the setting thats released that year.

So Orcs would make sense. BUUUUT...

it just dosn't work for super secret race.

I will stick to my Daconics as the mystery race.

I expect to see Shifters, Warforge, Kalashtar, Changeling and Gnomes in PHB 2 for the Ebberron Setting.
