Also if you want to publish something you shouldn't share the stuff on a public message board--ideas get stolen that way.

I'm working on a campaign setting that's hopefully unique and forms its own niche in all the published settings out there. I plan on publishing it someday when I feel the industry is ready. Right now I feel its too saturated, too many contenders. If you don't believe me go down to the nearest gaming store and stand in front of the shelf containing their RPGs and d20 stuff, you'll see what I mean.

But on the other hand...
Thank you SHARK for sharing all of your ideas. You've definitely got talent. And I think you should publish what you have if you think its feasible. You've provided me with inspiration (if anything, the drive to put off procrastination and work on my campaign setting).

And basically, until you have enough publishing clout, you should not try to publish your baby at all if you intend to use it again. The legal hassles of handling who owns what 10 years down the line when the author wants to write a novel and the company wants to print an excerpt from the game book is way too complicated to be worth it unless it's something that you know is a surefire hit.

Why, by the way, is it standard to sign over exclusive rights to your work? (Or isn't it standard?) I think that's what bothers most creative types.
