Greetings all once again!
Where shall I begin, well I have been trying to get some of my material published but my contacts seemed to have vanished into thin air, so I post here again safe in the knowledge that someone is bound to read this. I have material, loads of the stuff, I just need someone clever to put it all together and stick it out there to buy! It includes, at current, 25 Prestige Classes, 40 or so spells with my own wild magic rules, alternative paladin/ranger classes, skill rules, a few feats and some fun magic items (quite a few cursed ones).
Any interested ppl or such? Would like to do something will all this lovely stuff I have written and some money wouldn't be shirked.

Hey there,

Shame I did not hear about this a couple of months ago :)

If you are willing to split your work up, it sounds just about right for our new range of Supplementary Rulebooks. Give me a private mail and we'll talk.

Did you reply to the email I sent you? I lost a bunch of mail around 9/3 and I have no idea what may have been lost. I might be interested in helping you out. Contact me again, if so. Let me know how many words it is, too.

Australia, land of inopportunity

Good god Chris_Nightwing, if only I had your luck.

After over 15 years of playing the games that seem to generally slip their way into our lives I have finally gotten myself published.....once.

Since finally getting convinced to submit a module to be published by my group, I have tasted success, but it is a bitter sensation. You see, I live in Australia. Oh to Hob-nob with people at American conventions, to be able to play Polyhedron games at conventions, to gain access to the wide range of products that are not sent to the land Down Under.......

Strangely enough after being published once, I'd give my right arm (though it may slow my typing speed) to give it another try. You however Mr Nightwing seem to live in the land of the lucky, to have your material requested by others and have the chances for publishing.

Many of the goods that various publishers put out do not make it to where I live, and the wonders of ordering on the internet are not as easy where I live as it is in the cities.

But enough of the sob story no-body wants to hear. Bottom line is like so: should anyone desire to prod my mind and stir through it like so much alphabet soup, then I welcome it!

I have had time and experiance to design custom classes, spells and other tit-bits for games that I run, but most importantly I believe is this: My particular talent is not so much as to overwhelm people with new rules for the sole fact to prove my ability of creation (though such a skill is not one to shirk), but it is to create new and interesting plotlines with the possibility of creating such additional items to place within.

Though I have managed to create new ideas for stories (such as the Children of the Golem prestege class for one), I believe that a tale is one to be told first, then the pretty new things to be added as a secondary necessity.

Please people, I fully recognise the ability to create new ideas for the rules of the game, they are a necessity that keeps the game fresh, and one that I fully support.

But apart from all this drivel, the nuts and bolts are:

Aussie, person, looking for a chance to impress, has duck called norman, can spin d4s. If any of you lovely people know where or how I can get a chance to impress, I would appreciate any chance.

Thanks peoples.

You know, while this forum is cool to look for work, there are a few open calls around (check the news forum) and contests being held. Now, one thing people don't realize about contests: they're usually a good way for publishers to see your work and possibly use you in the future -- whether you won the contest or not.

Also, check out the publisher listing and visit their sites... you'll find a number of writer's guidelines available.

Sometimes, you can't wait for the publisher to come to you -- sometimes you must go to the publisher.

Publishers arent going to go to you. Go to the web sites of the publishers you like, grab their submission guidelines and submit. Now is the time. And it doesnt matter where you live. An Aussie is just as capable of getting submission guidelines and writing and submitting as anyone else. It takes motivation and hard work. Like everything else in life, Its 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration.

Now go get those submission guidelines and start friggin writing!

I couldn't agree more with Clark. My publishing credits include a couple of things I wrote for a small publishing company I was working for at the time, a couple articles in Dragon, several online articles for various periodicals, and the new Oathbound adventure that was just released to the Bastion Press website.

While I admit that the deck was stacked in my favor with the company I was working for, I would not have gotten the Dragon articles or the work from Bastion Press if I hadn't looked at their material, read their submission guidelines, and asked them for work.

By the way, you might want to try starting small. Write a few short articles for some online magazines first (I highly recommend doing something for Asgard since it benefits Moruss). You might also want to check out D20 Weekly since they pay contributors and you don't have to bother with a query letter. Once you have done this, then some of the printed publications might want to look at your work, and have faith that you will be able to deliver quality material after you have had your query letter accepted. Some small publihers might be willing to let you jump straight into a major project, but be warned that there are a lot of them that have been burned in the past by so-called professionals not turning in the work they had promised.

I wish you well!

Congrats on the offers, accept them and go with it. With the d20 system and license available it has made it easier for many to get published when it wasn't possible a few years ago. I am sure that many companies that have arrised in the last two years didn't expect to be publishing rpg materials right now.

I have gone to many publisher's websites, looked at the submission guidelines, and so far none are looking for new campaign settings, which is the only thing I have been working on for the last three months. Like many others, I have never been published, and fear that I never will. My setting is suitable for d20 Modern, not DnD, but it is a combination of both.

When reading submission guidelines, I always have a few questions that pop up, like: are these submissions supposed to be submitted under a certain format, or using a specific product? I have these because unlike most people, I don't have the funds nor resources to type up a really good and fancy document. I have Wordpad, Word and MSWorks do not work on my computer because my computer, for lack of better word, sucks. I don't have Acrobat, no money for it, so I can't do pdf. I am a one person team, with no one to really help or help proofread my work, and I don't know how well or professional sounding it would look. I can't draw. Beyond all that, I have a very creative mind, a desire to create, and a really kick-butt setting.

Sorry if this is my way of explaining this under this thread, but as someone stated a few years ago, if you don't try, or if you don't ask, you will never know? It's better to try and fail then it is to not try at all and wonder for the rest of your life.

I end with congratulations to the original poster to this thread, and if anyone picks up on your works, go with it and take it. Opportunities usually come only once in a lifetime, twice if your lucky, and three times if karma loves ya. :D
