I Want Monster Sounds. From Where?

First Post
I want some monster sounds. I just played a game with a DM who had his laptop at the table and he had all kinds of neat monster sounds. Whenever the group would encounter a monster he'd hit a button on the computer and an attacking monster noise would sound. He also had a sound for when the monsters died. He'd hit that button to let the players know that the monster had met his/her demise. So, anyone know where I can download some of these monster sounds? Let me know.

I once came across a site that sold sound effect clips individually (1.95 each, i think) for dvd menus and such.

I cannot recall the name of this site, nor could I find it via a quick glance a Google, but it is out there. The sounds all had samples and were geared towards horror and sci-fi, with names like dripping gore, and destroyed machinery, and ambient screams and such.

Not much help, but maybe you could find it. If I ever come across the site , I will post it here.

I once had a vast collection of mp3 monster sounds. But alas, that hard drive died without a backup. :(

Most of what I got were from animal sounds, you'd be surprised how many natural animal noises sound like horrible monstrosities! I also got a bunch from haunted mansion type soundclips.

There are plenty of sites on the Internet that have collections of free soundclips for download, just browse through each site and you will be able to pick out some gems!

I thought I saw an ad for a product just like this. I wonder though, since all D&D stuff was printed on paper mostly, how the sounds would be determined. I don't recall ever seeing an owlbear in any cartoons or movies.

Sound-ideas has an extensive collection of pro sound fx. But they are not cheap by any means.

Then we have the sounddogs site. Its a commercial site but you can pre-listen to the sound effects in lo-q. But it could be enough for gaming. Just select all "Monster" categories and listen to some of the results. They are not too bad.

Ulric and others. My son has just started producing sound effect cds for role playing games. His first offering is environmental backgrounds at http://www.palefacesound.com/store/environ.html
If you want to email me with a list of monsters you want sounds for, I will ask him to create a monsters CD set to include on the site. Since he is the sound editor for the recently ended Start Trek TV series :-( , he has some time to work on these new ventures.
Send monster requests to varney@sover.net and I will plead your case.
Dad
