i was wondering has anyone tried to convert Star Trek's Q into monster format?

at least, not since god or whatever up there gave us lower creatures free will...

Or, at least that's what they want you poor mortal non-omnipotent people to think, yes. :)

oooo the headaches that caused when that happened.
omnipotence yes.
omniscence nope. not gonna happen.
ahhh the good ol days.

So you're saying that omnipotence is impossible, too? You don't have the power to do anything if you don't have the power to make yourself omniscient. ;p

Q and other members of the continum are plot devices not monsters.

They are absolutely great at getting the players to be where you (the GM) want them to be. Players been ignoring all the hints about the crazy stuff going on in the sewers? Have Q turn up and Zap them straight in the heart of the action.

i have to agree. Q r great plot devices

and not really monsters cuz by their very nature, they can't be statted.
lol.
or waaaaiiit. u can also use Q to un-munchkin player who has played fast and loose with the rules on purpose.

Not necessarily.

Omnipotence is the ability to do anything. If omniscience is not within the set of all things, it cannot be done. Most importantly, omnipotence cannot produce that which is not defined:

CRG: Hey, Q! Produce for me "golchinthorgleswack"!
Q: I am fully conversant with your tiny, vapid language, but I don't know that word. What is it?
CRG: Well, actually, it hasn't been defiend.
Q: You want me to produce that which is not well defined?
CRG: Yes.
Q: You don't know what it is, but you want me to make it for you?
CRG: Yes.
Q: Let me ask you - if you don't know what it is, how would you know if I'd made it?
CRG: Uhhhh.....

Exactly.

My favourite Q quote, from DS9

You hit me! Picard never hit me.

lol.

lol
okay. okay.
so maybe Q aren't as omniscient or as omnipotent as they claim
(they obviously have over-opinated views of themselves)
they're just probably close.

*wiggles her finger and rearranges the universe into the ear of a half-way asleep clerk in a strange, weird world called earth.
