I wish they'd just reboot.

It was all a dream. JR is alive.

Actually, it was Bobby Ewing who was dead in the dream season of Dallas (and Mrs. Ellie got a heck of a lot more attractive as Donna Reed that season too).

Anyone remember the Dallas RPG?

I run forgotten realms, and in my own little opinion, any setting, world or whatever that has multiple means of getting from one plane of existance to another; say via a planeshift spell, is and will always have access to any and all gods ever.

I don't know about all of you, but I remember a time when Both Waterdeep and Undermountain had Spelljammer ports in them. I recall Adventures that started in FR, went to Ravenloft, and ended in Dragonlance.

This is a game of high fantasy, where ANYTHING is posible.

So what the cosmology is different, maybe it was a badly worded wish that rearranged all of the planes and forced Mystra to Throw wish outside of wizardly power while all gods everywhere try to fix the mistake?

I mean I'm adapting, why can't you?

As for the interrupting ongoing campaigns? Why? Only people who adhere to canon would have that problem. I only adhere to what I like, so a reboot isn't going to bother me anymore than what they have been saying they are going to do.

In fact I would probably like a reboot better.

Still, no matter what they do, a certain group will not be happy with it.

That's actually a pretty neat idea for a campaign... I'll have to remember that one.

Reboot is a very interesting idea. I would have preferred a launch of a completely new core DnD setting. Not a funky out of the box one like Eberron, but a more traditional like GH or FR. It allows a free pass on jettisoning the fluff that we all know and love and starts everyone at a new reference point. Hard to be upset at them screwing up your current setting when they simply develop a new one.

Ah, well. All I remember was that I had to sit through that AND Falcon Crest before the really good stuff came on. :)

I think this is essentially what they are doing with the new setting. A less funky, out-of-the-box, no knowledge required, generic fantasy setting.
