I write on the internet too much

I was just writing a note to myself at the bottom of an article, and I thought a revision I made was particularly ironic, so I inadventently typed "lol" at the end of the note...to myself...

Take solace in the fact that you didn't actually say it out loud. I've know some folks who would actually say "ell oh ell" in a conversation if they thought something was funny.

How lame! It's obviously pronounced "laul". ;)

And yes, I've said lol before in conversation. :o

Something like that happened to me once in my last year in high school. I had to write an essay about a topic in history and I'd just reformatted my computer so I only had a few text editors installed, no word processors. No problems, I wrote my essay and emailed it to my teacher.

A day later my teacher asked me why my essay was full of \n and \" ... You see, I had been programming loads before I reformatted the computer, and I wrote the essay in my text editor I only use for programming otherwise, which is why my brain screwed up. In the C programming language, \n means new line. And \" means ". So... I had a HUGE block of text a compiler would love, but a pain in the *** for humans to read.

Oh well, at least I got a B.
