D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil II

OOC: Question, any benefit from Thaliss also casting the ritual with Carradoc? Double water breathing, in case someone dispells magic?

OOC: I'm going to go with no, it probably won't end up mattering anyway, but honestly relatively uncertain.

You cast your spell and take a dip. At the bridge you encounter a confused troll under the bridge. It wiggles its gills, not exactly sure what to make of this.

Thaliss raises his arm in a friendly salute "Your must be Marrowsucker. The gong is ringing and we're here to help! What now?"

OOC: deception [roll0] plus [roll1] from guidance

Stairs on each side of the canal climb up to a stone bridge, which spans the canal fifteen feet above the water level. The sides of the bridge are carved in the image of dragons standing guard over treasure hoards. A single torch illuminates the bridge.

On the west side of the canal, passages lead to the west and to the north. On the east side of the canal, one passage leads east.

The troll looks at you and shrugs. "You go. I stay. Probably another fire cultist caught spying. I don't care."

"Maybe, but maybe not. Still worth checking." Thaliss says, as he moves towards the stairs.

OOC: insight on the troll [roll0] plus guidance if you consider Thaliss had time to cast it [roll1]
Note that unless he is maintaining concentration on hex, he casting guidance all the time (mumbling away as he walks/swims).

The troll seems like a lazy bridge troll.

To his companions, Thaliss telepathically says We can explore this room, or head towards the gong. In any case, I would much rather face the bridge troll on dry land, where we can burn it.

Carradoc says, "Yep. No need to pick this fight. Sorry for getting everyone wet. Thought something else was happening. Maybe we can just walk through this place."

He thinks back to the first monastery they had attacked, and the resistance they had encountered there. This one seems different.
