Big Chef is down, Pastry chef takes a big hit but she's feisty and stiff up. She attacks Caer
zombie attack Caer: 1D20+3 = [8]+3 = 11
Miss.

As the group emerges from the fog and hacks down the large chef, he tumbles down to the ground, cabbage mixing with blood and his large knife clangs on the ground.

The little woman turns but before she can react, Caer smacks her with his staff. She screams in anger, falling backwards against the table. Shrieking, she grabs a lemon meringue pie and throws it at her attacker and then lunges at him, to bite down on his leg but he easily interposes his shield.

Meanwhile, outside in the common room, the debate on the morality of robbing stores of recently transformed zombies has hit its crescendo and is calming down a bit. There's a muffled crash and a scream that comes through the door.

People stop arguing.

"What was that?"

They are looking at Anson.

@Kobold Stew What do you want to do? I would say another social skill is appropriate

Caer attempts to bring the Blackstaff down again on the befouled patisserie, but his shield, that so adroitly blocked her gnashing teeth, prevents him from arcing his blow to connect with her.

OOC:
Blackstaff: 1D20+5 = [2]+5 = 7
doh!

Getting this in because about to head out for the night. Someone, please, summon Gordon Ramsay and end this Kitchen Nightmare!

Benny call forth more illusory magics, and solid stonework seem to engulf his allies, fortunately they quickly see through it.

OOC: cast silent image, illusion of solid stone walls only engulfing Benny’s allies and leaving the two zombies in an open space. We see them, they can’t see us. This gambit works because we’re all close
Move none
Concentrating on silent image

Anson stands by the door as the crowd notices the noise. Anson is not a good liar, but he does try to calm them down.

"Things are being prepared in the kitchen -- we all need to eat. Perhaps I can play you a tune while we wait for food to be served?" He reaches for his flute...

OOC: If persuasion/deception, then 1d20+2=7. If performance, add 4 for a total of 11.

A man responds to Anson,

"Prepared? No-one screams while preparing food. You think they're making giant lobsters back there or somefin?"

Someone pipes in from behind the crowd,

"You know, that's just a myth. Lobsters don't actually scream when you put them in boiling water."

"What do you know? You ain't a chef. Or a lobster whisperer."

"We could ask a druid! They can whisper to lobsters.

Everyone nods in agreement,

"Is there a druid 'ere?"

"Never mind the stupid druid, I swear I heard a scream! We all heard it!"

Then a woman walks up and takes the man by the hand and pats it,

"Come now, Hubert, we've all been through a lot today, just let the nice man play."

"Ugh, fine..."

They move to the fireplace and sit and Anson knows his cue and starts playing. People go back to mumbling about other things or clapping along to the music.

Yeah, they failed their insight.
Insight: 1D20+1 = [6]+1 = 7

Meanwhile the small zombie climbs onto the table - possibly to jump over the illusory wall - and leaps towards Caer, attempting to mount him. She's going straight for his eyes. Unfortunately, her launching pad is covered in globs of icing and she slips and lands about a foot short of Caer and lands face first on the floor. She groans as she stands back up.

zombie Gouge!: 1D20+3 = [5]+3 = 8

I think we can call the combat. Someone finish it off.

From within his illusory castle, Benny send Max to attack the undead halfling. The sphynx strikes true, and after a flash of radiance the creatures stops in its tracks and falls to the ground, convulsing slightly before finally resting in peace.

Benny is shaking. New powers are surging within him, and with everything happening so quickly, he is having a hard time managing his thoughts and emotions.

After Max’s telepathic coaxing, Benny faces his companions and, still shaking he says: “I’m … I’m finding that I can do things I couldn’t do before.” He mumbles a bit and suddenly, he looks just like Anson, and in a few seconds, it’s Carr, and then briefly it’s the undead priest. Lacking confidence he adds “It’s still me… I just thought you should know…” and reverts to his normal self.

As they are still in the kitchen without other folks present, a rainbow colored miasma then wafts around his hands. He seems to be playing with it, making cloud-like shapes. He makes it dissipate when the group is about to move on.
