(IC) Dog Days of Doom!

Benny is amazed that one could be so isolated from the outside. The world turned upside down, and here he is, preparing for a party. Benny reverts to his normal appearance and says "Sir, zombies are all over the city. So many dead..." He says somewhat maladroitly, obviously trying to hold back an emotional outburst.

Stratus went through his sack, carefully taking out the glass lockbox and then the various pieces of armor. He helped Benny to don the halfling-sized suit, adjusting his straps for him before patting him on the back. He then worked to add his own armored accessories to his previous suit, replacing a few lighter pieces with some stronger metal.

When he was done, he took the lockbox to Anson and asked him to jimmy the lock. There was no sense in getting broken glass on the floor.

OOC: Stratus' new armor equivalent to Splint. Benny gets Studded Leather. I can't quite remember all that I picked up. Two armors and a lockbox - Oh! And the Giant's Maul had a gem that is now embedded in Stratus' new shield. @TaranTheWanderer is that just the equivalent of a Stronmaus Holy Symbol (Emblem) or is there more to it?

Deirdre stood still as the healing energy flowed from the priest into her, feeling the familiar warmth of her wounds mending and closing. Smiling at Benny, she then addressed the priest directly.

"Thank you ainer er. I am Deirdre. It is clear an ancient evil, known to humans as Kyuss, is welding his power over the city. It's imperative that the beacon be relit in the hope that its holy radiance will dispel his presence."

"Our respite shall be brief, for I fear Meldin may be a grave danger. We ask you show us to the crypts once we have recovered."

Deirdre then moves to the others to help sort through the equipment and learn what the other group found.

Anson nods tho the priest, respecting the old man for his venerable age and his almost naive simplicity. The life of a recluse, amidst a town of horrors. How long would the man have waited.

He sees the healing being performed, and realizes he too is wounded.

He unstoppers one of the potions he had picked up and drinks it slowly, the viscous fluid coating his throat with warm blue refreshment.

"Perhaps we should check on your counterpart, sir?"

OOC: Helaing potion: 2d4+2=8. Woo back at full.

Havoc clears the armor he picked up from the priest of Kord and also his gauntlets. Stripping without shame and changing into it, even if a bit stinky, feels a bit like returning to dwarven army.

He puts holy symbol of All-Father under his beard reinforcing the feel of return.

Ooc: stats tomorrow

The priest isn't an old guy. In fact he's quite young. Probably one of the lower ranking priests from the temple left behind to finish decorating and preparing before the remains of the procession arrive. He listens to your story and you clean your armour and tend to your wounds.

"Well, I was expecting a huge procession and with just the two of us around, there's no way I could have known. Everyone was down at the gate to meet the procession!"

He starts pacing,

"This doesn't bode well for Meldin. He was going to relight the flames but if the dead have risen. Yes, maybe you can help him!"

He goes to a golden case behind the altar and opens it. Inside he brings out two sticks carved with runes.

These are the striking stones. Strike them near the sacred braziers and it will relight them. There are seven in all and each is keyed to a rune on the beacon. When all seven are lit, the beacon will light also.

"I'll stay here with these two" He indicates the girl, Newt and the Merchant whose name is Olsen. "I'm not fighter. I also want to be here if more people from town come seeking shelter. It seems the temple is protected from whatever force is doing this."

He hands you the sticks.

"Sometimes it takes a bit of striking to get the flames lit. But, you can also pray to Pelor and pour some life force into them to light the flames that way1"

"Oh, and the dead are harmed by the light of the flame when it is lit. They are also weakened when in the light. That was the whole point of the beacon - to be a safeguard against the dead."

You all level up to level 3 and can have a short rest.

To use the sticks you must use your full action every round for 1d3+1 rounds to light the brazier. If you don't want to wait and want to do it immediately, you can expend one Hit Dice.
