(IC) Dog Days of Doom!

S
Market

The group hesitates and the chickens seem to be aware that something is amiss

2 things:
1. @Steve Gorak the chickens are feeding on the fresh bodies of the dead. Who knows if these chickens killed a zombie or a person but they seem more interested in the flesh. They seem to be acting differently than a typical zombie you’ve seen and You aren’t sure if your disguise will deter them.

2. @Kobold Stew @Lidgar You guys need to decide what to do or you will be discovered.
Seeing the odd behavior of the chicken zombies, Benny stops short of his plan to deceive them. He looks around to see if there is somewhere they could climb, to at least give them more options.

Havoc pulled the creature forward quickly, just not quickly enough to surprise or silence it.
"Let's hurry it up. I'd like to take that armor off the zombie. Both to see if I can use it and to take it away from it. Just in case dead zombie can rise again. Maybe there are yo-yo zombies that get up and down with green pulses?"

The Holy Hammer

Despite the howl, time passes and no-one comes to visit. You have time to look around and take what you need.

Once you are done, you see that things outside are getting quite dark. You know the sun hasn't set just yet but you know it's low in the west and the strange clouds have all but blocked out the light.

Where do you go next?

Besides the combat, you've spent 10 minutes here. It took you a bit longer to get here than the team at the Mystic Emporium.

What do you want to do for the next 10 minutes? Or do you want to leave?
Explore the last two rooms? = 10 mins
Grab the breast plate? = 10 mins
Don Armour? heavy=10mins; medium=5mins
Grab 100gp worth of trinkets and loot? = 10 minutes

Each person can do one of these.

The Market

Benny looks to the buildings. Yes, they are spaced together closely. There's a market stall next to a building that could make it easy to get on a roof. Can you do it quietly? Who knows?

You can do a climb instead of a stealth. The difficulty is the chicken's passive perception. There is no armour check penalty for this check. DC: 10

@Lidgar you haven't posted IC in a while, do you want me to make the check for you?

"Lets try to get the penants. If there are holy symbols, we might get a protection from another blast like the last one. Or just frighten some undead." Havoc whispers
"And we might make a run for it afterwards, back toward the gate. Even if we don't sneak out, we should be able to outrun zombies and hide somewhere to change. And meet with the rest of the group. We shouldn't be too far from one another."

HOLY HAMMER

Caer watches as the newly-risen cur is swiftly dispatched, but not without a yowl echoing through the building. He is already feeling the oppressive nature of this building that transforms pure nature into civilization's wrath, and his discomfort was only buttressed by the knowledge that he nearly met his end here, and had no desire to see if any of the cur's pack might answer its call.

Caer watches with growing discomfort as Havok and Stratus grab pieces of armor quickly. Then he remembers. The lad who is with us. Benny. He will need protection as well.

Caer sees a small, child-sized piece of leather armor hanging. He moves forward to get it, but as he takes hold of it, he notices that interwoven throughout the leather are tendrils and studs of finely-worked metal. No! If need be, I will provide protection some other way. I will not die holding on to this metal, hoping that it might one day give protection to some other.

Caer drops the armor as if it was on fire, staring at it. Finally, he replies to Havoc.

Let us leave this place immediately before we are buried here. To the pendant shop, and then away from the market. The others will have to meet us on the way out.

OOC:
Not gonna do it. And let's skedaddle to the pendant shop now.
@Steve Gorak at least Benny will get some inspiration.

Market
Market challenge.jpg

The gang at the Holy Hammer gather up what they can and head out the door, looking about for danger as they go. Moving the short distance, they see a murder of crows sit on a rooftop and as they see you, they fly into the air and, for a moment, make the visage of a skull before they disappear over the building tops.

Cyrick's Silver Pendants is a simple stall in the middle of the market. Zombies of once-shopper stumble about as you move from one stall to the next. With his keen elven eyes, Caer sees movement under Cyrick's boxes and crates. If it was not for his ability to see in dim light, he would not have been able to tell if it was a zombie or person but it is, unmistakably, the cowering form of a small child hiding.

Meanwhile, the chickens are getting bored of their snack and are now roaming closer.

Caer, Havoc & Stratus need to make a stealth roll. Updating the loot sheet.

Benny and Anson need to roll as well. Stealth to sneak away or Athletics to climb the buildings

Double post
Caer, and Benny gain 1 inspiration each.

Caer, Anson and Stratus have 1 each, Benny has 2

Remember that you can use it to declare narrative stuff on the scene as well as use it to reroll a dice.

SILVER PENDANTS

Caer has become used to silently moving through forests, and his own shadow-touched nature provides him with an uncanny knowledge of how best to utilize even the fleeting moments of darkness to aid him. As he surveys the stall, Caer sees a hint of movement under some crates... is it Benny?

Caer sees just enough to realize that the lad he had met before isn't the one under the boxes, but he knows that the child, if left here, will soon succumb to the darkness. He hesitates in thought for the briefest of seconds. It was not his nature to give aid to the dwellers of contagion. But no innocent should be left as food for the risen dead.

Caer approaches the crates carefully and, taking stock of the situation, lifts the crates up, while whispering to the child under the crates.

We are here to help. Be silent, and we will guide you away from the monsters.

At the same time, Caer beckons for Stratus to join him. He had long experience with others viewing him, and it was not always a pleasant experience. He felt that if Stratus was there as well, the child might be more receptive.

Stratus had found pauldrons and vambraces that would fit him, and some padded felt that would enhance his armor when he had time to put it all together, and he grabbed the small leather coat from where Caer had left it on the floor, remembering that Benny had asked for it. It all went into a large sack, with a few other items, to be sorted later.

When he stepped out into the market, he hefted the sack over his shoulder, and the metal armor inside clanged together, creating a single, loud bang.

OOC: I was soooo proud of myself for my 17 Stealth Roll... until I remembered that I had disadvantage and rolled a 1 on my second roll.
