(IC) Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden

Quickleaf

Legend
Unless anyone voices an opposing opinion, he proceeds to shape change into a giant spider, and waits for Zerg to hop on. When he does, Aric-spider climbs up

"No, take me first. I can scout up there while you ferry the rest. And I can probably remain hidden while the reinforcements arrrive."
Lumrolur suggests as he loads his hand crossbow and checks other weapons.

Aric (in the form of a giant spider) skitters up the western wall with Lumrolur clinging to his furry carapace, climbing onto the wooden platforms above the rest of the party's heads by some 50 feet, near the edge of the dim light radiating from Alma's red-hued light spell. Their shadowed forms are faintly visible to the party through cracks in the wood.

A bucket large enough for a human dangles from a taut rope stretching across the shaft to the opposite wooden platform 15 feet away.

Immediately, Aric and Lumrolur can hear soft voices somewhere between a chitter and a dog's whine down the west tunnel (speaking a language neither of you know) – three kobolds are appraising a potential mining vein, the leader wearing a makeshift pair of false leather wings as he seems to be trying to explain something the other two kobolds are struggling to grasp. So far, the kobolds haven't noticed you.

To the north is a curving upward sloping passage with rough-hewn steps smoothed over by frequent use.

To the east is a mining chamber.

To the south is a chamber with fossilized material embedded in its walls.

GM: If your focus/priority is on getting the party up the shaft to the wooden platforms, please let me know the order you'll be shuttled up by Aric one-by-one?

"Aric's suggestion is a good one," Alma agrees. "However, if these mines lead out to the surface, the frogs might be better left here."

She turns to their amphibious companions and calls to them in Deep Speech, "We need to go up. You'll find more food down here."

Kr-koa-kwat makes a low throaty sound and blinks at Alma indecisively, glancing up the shaft for a moment. It responds to Alma's telepathic voice in broken Deep Speech, "You drop food thump-thump, happy belly go whump-whump?"

Twister watches Kr-koa-kwat then swivels pale blue eyes to look Alma up and down, the ice toad's belly making a rumbling sound.

"One moment," Alma requests.

She turns back to the others while Aric ferries Lumrolur up the cavern wall. "They request we drop some food down. If we don't leave them something, they might become hostile. We could offer some rations."

"There are some kobolds here. I can try and take them quietly. Give me a moment. And tell Spideraric that I plan to ambush them."
He drops from the back of the monstrous spider and motions toward the kobolds, going across his throat with the dagger. He mimes slow movements with his fingers in a walking motion. Then points at the spider and making an arc across the ceiling.
He whispers to Aric
"We can take them, only three of them. Just stop them from running away. I'll try to get on the other side of them."
Move and Bonus to dash and Action to dash too:
Move across the area if possible keeping out of their darkvision range
neurotic: D20 + 7#lumrolurstealth → 27(20 + 7)#Lumrolur stealth

neurotic: D20 + 3#lumrolurinitiative → 8(5 + 3)#Lumrolur initiative - well, maybe not really win initiative :D

OOC: I will not go at this alone if other players disagree. But I think a surprise round plus maybe initiative won should deal with the three. Note that Lumrolur as svirfneblin does NOT consider diplomacy in any form with kobolds - they are Underdark vermin and should be exterminated :D

GM: If you do want to ambush the 3 kobolds, Aric and Lumrolur will make quick work of them – no need to get into initiative or attack rolls, unless you want to. More a question of what you want to do!

Jack whispers to Alma, "Fresh kobold would hit the spot with these toads, just the kind of snack they're looking for!"

Alma nods. She has no qualms one way or the other. This is, she muses, a form of hunting. Though she was under the impression that it was more taboo to hunt sentient creatures. A note for later. She leans over to Jack, whispering in return, "Who is Spideraric?"
