(IC) Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden

He looks up toward Aric, bewildered at first and resolute in a second after.
"Right! Let's finish this vermin and get back, there is only dead end here. And the above, there is a cult of Frost...but we're not after them for now, right?"
SpiderAric bobs his spider head up and down, but lets the GhostGnome take the first slaughtering steps.

Logrim nods at Alma.

"Miss Alma, I think we are all a bit eccentric. I include myself in that statement."

"I endeavor to follow as many social customs as possible. Please correct me if I misstep. As for you, Logrim, I find you relatively inoffensive."

She glances back up, a little wary of the silence that overtakes the cavern as Lumrolur lets the spirit enter. He's already prone to speaking to himself under his breath, so she doesn't know what to make of the voice that bounces back down to them. But it sounds like things return to normal, so she cautiously loosens the tension in her shoulders.

Logrim clears his throat looking embarrassed.

"I'm sorry mister Zeth. I didn't mean no offense." He pauses for a second. "But, to be fair we did all agree to hunt down a strange killer at the start of a long winter. Most wouldn't so I say that is pretty strange."

Logrim then looks up at Zeth's indication.

"Yes, but most things that have happened since we left Bryn Shander have worried me so I might not be the best judge."

"I am concerned," Alma agrees. "But until it proves detrimental, I have to assume Lumrolur wouldn't knowingly endanger himself for seemingly no personal gain."

Jack flutters up, hovering at about everyone else's eye level with his usual carefree grin. He gives a little wave with both hands, as if dismissing their concerns entirely. "Eccentric? Us? Nah. I mean, we’re not normal, but that's no fun anyway!"

His eyes give a reminiscent look, as though he's about to launch into a story, but he stops himself and just gives Alma a reassuring nod, "We’re the good kind of strange. The adventurous kind. A little extra spirit on our side is probably just what we need. Who better to help us find a killer skulking around than someone who’s already dead and knows this place better than we do?" He grins at Zeth's suggestion to be on their way, "Let's go!"

GM POST

After Jack flies up, the rest of you – Alma, Logrim, Zeth, and Russet – manage to ascend either with the help of Aric shapechanged into a giant spider or climbing the hand-and-footholds on the western wall. Down below the wide-eyed ice toads watch you, croaking with low rumbling hunger, but soon their sounds fade away with the roar of the waterfall pouring down the eastern wall of the shaft.

North is a sloping ramp with intermittent rough-hewn stairs leading up.

West are the two kobolds, huddling in fear.

Spanning the shaft is a shuttle-bucket leading to a southeastern wood platform with access to...

A South chamber with fossils in the rock.

And East chamber with a geode face.

EDIT: Going straight up the shaft – such as Jack flying or Aric spider-climbing – there appears to be an opening on the east wall 15-feet up next to the waterfall. Then another 15-ft up (i.e. 30-feet from your current level) there is another wooden platform along the southern wall.

OOC: So, just to be clear, we need to go up to the surface, right? And the ghost said something about cultists up there?

"Janth, how many cultists are there? We need to get to the surface."

While waiting for the ghost to answer he motions with now loaded crossbow to the kobolds and speaks in Undercommon "Pick up that carrion and throw it over to the toads. If you miss, you'll be the food."
